Darius deserves the title of being “The Great” because he propelled the government and culture of the Achaemenid society. Darius began creating a prominent empire by expanding the range of the Achaemenid society. He introduced twenty three districts and extended the borders to a total of 1865 miles from the Aegean Sea to the Indus River, East to West, and 933 miles from Armenia to the First Cataract on the Nile River, North to South.
