Rough draft: To Kill a Mocking Bird Prejudice Quotes Some people say prejudice is just a word, but it is action at the same time and could have a huge impact on people. In the novel “To Kill a Mocking Bird”, it shows many examples of prejudice. There are many signs of prejudice towards people, what people believe or just think of one another, or problems around the town Maycomb Alabama such as racism towards Tom Robinson. In my essay I’ll be explaining the prejudice towards the characters in the novel and how it affects the character in the novel. I’ll be talking about three different types of prejudice. The first one is believing in something that may or may not be true. The second source of prejudice is judging some by the color of their skin or racism. And the last example of prejudice is judging someone by the first sight or judging a book by its cover in other words. So now I’ll explain the different types of being prejudice. For the first example of prejudice in the characters of To Kill a Mocking Bird would be Boo Radley. Boo Radley is decimated against a thought of as a criminal to the whole town of Maycomb Alabama. He was recognized as the towns crazy person and just an all-out lunatic "Boo was about six-and-a-half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained , if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off. There was a long jagged scar that ran across his face; what teeth he had were yellow and rotten his eyes popped, and he drooled most of the time" (Lee 13). The way this affected Boo Radley was that Jem and Scout who played and made games that are based on Boo Radley. They see this as an insignificant way to picture hi... ... middle of paper ... ...rejudice and the different types of prejudice. Like the racism towards Tom Robinson, or how people thought that boo Radley was a psycho and just wanted to hurt people. Instead he was just a nice helpful guy. And lastly the incident with Atticus was a form of prejudice. Because everyone thought that he just liked black people but instead he just wanted everyone to get along. And have fair case with Tom Robinson and Mayella Ewell. And how he didn’t rape her or even try to do anything with her. This essay showed that there are many different kinds of prejudice. And that Maycomb Alabama is just an all-around racist town. But also shows how far our country has come from seventy years ago with racism and how we have all come together, and how prejudice destroys towns and destroys the minds of people and makes them think odd things and just do plain foolish acts to others.
