This quote that was said by Atticus is referencing to the days before the Civil Wars when there was a lot of racism. He wants this court case to get justice for a black man, against a white man. He knows he isn’t going to win, but he will keep fighting for a good cause. An example from my own life would be when I was in the finals for the spelling bee. I had a word that I didn’t know the answer to. But, I still tried my best to get it right. I did this because I don’t want to later think “what if”. ”What if” means thinking about the possibilities of the situation. For example, what if I worked hard and gave it my all, could I have won? Also, you shouldn’t hurt a gentle, kind, and helpful person who doesn’t deserve it because that is a sin Mockingbird. Consequently, hurting those special birds will not only inflict pain on them but everyone around them. In the book, there are people who get hurt even when they don’t deserve it, for example, Jem, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley are all symbols of a mockingbird because they are all innocent people that have been injured through bad deeds done by others. For example, Jem was hurt by Mr. Radley when he filled up the knothole with cement. Jem didn’t do anything to deserve that, but this event happened to hurt him very emotionally. In addition, Tom Robinson is accused of a crime that he didn't do because he was an African American. He was a fine man, but because of his skin color, the truth wasn’t justified and the white lady won the court case. Next, some teachers in my school can be represented as a mockingbird because they work so hard to make their students successful but some still hurts them and say rude things. Teachers are educators, but some students don’t see how amazing and hard the job
