Timothy Stackpole,a well-known firefighter, proudly served his first day captain on Sept. 10. The bombing of the World Trade Center was nicknamed “the Big One”, causing a sixteen alarm fire. FEMA’s Incident Commander (IC) arrived on the scene at 12:48 and began assessing what needed to be done: over 50,000 people needed to be evacuated, thick black smoke was filling the building and could not stopped, numerous people were trapped in elevators and personnel on the top floors were breaking glass raining it down on personnel on the ground.
In conclusion John Allen Muhammad was executed for the 2002 D.C. sniper shooting. Now the city of Washington D. C. can rest easy knowing they are not in harm’s way. Have the lives of the people who have lost loved ones been drastically changed for the worst, or has their lives become easier with time? Hopefully they will regain strength to carry on and pass this tragedy of the sniper shooting. This tragedy should be a lesson for everyone to deal with things and not let those things control every aspect of people’s lives and how they live it.
The deadliest school shooting to have ever happened in the United States at a high school or grade school, happened less than two years ago. On December 14th, 2012, Adam Lanza, who was twenty years old at the time, shot his mother, Nancy Lanza, four times and then brought firearms to his former grade school Sandy Hook Elementary, and fatally shot twenty children and six adults. Then the shooter put his own gun to his head and fatally shot himself. All of the children were between the ages of six and seven years old, and all six adults who were shot and killed were females who worked at the school. Lanza's father believed that if he were there himself, his son would have had no trouble shooting and killing him too.
Jeremy was sitting by his father in the passenger seat when it occurred. He received five bullets in the chest and head and his father received some as well though lived through it but is in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

However, in The Great Gatsby, that stereotype is broken. Jay Gatsby is an excessively hopeful man who was obsessed with fitting in to high society and recapturing the past with his ex lover, Daisy. He did not know how or when to stop, because it was the core part of who he was. The lengths he was willing to go to achieve his goals were staggering, and it eventually lead to his downfall. That is why Jay Gatsby is the tragic hero of The Great Gatsby, and his hamartia would be his reckless dreaming. His reckless dreaming is seen through his extravagant measures to meet with Daisy and his persistence in pursuing his dream even after it had been shattered. Finally, it was proven that his reckless dreaming had lead to his downfall when Nick, the narrator had foreshadowed the cause of his downfall at the very beginning of the novel.
