In 1895, Victorian Britain was very much Great Britain- 'the workshop
of the world.' Since the Industrial Revolution technological
advancement had changed the face of the country (shape, structure and
appearance). Heavy industry demanded fossil fuels and therefore there
was a heavy demand for mine workers. Growing transport demands led to
new roads being built. Life in 802,701 seemed very different to that
of 1895, it was a time of easy going and a very laid back time.
Everything about this time was different ' The air was free from
gnats, the earth from weeds or fungi; everywhere were fruits and sweet
and delightful flowers; brilliant butterflies flew hither and
thither.' There were two separate forms of life in this time; they
were the Eloi and the Morlocks.
The Eloi were the weaker of the two beings, and they were used as food
for the Morlocks. H.G. Wells describes them in the book 'He was a
slight creature- perhaps four feet high- clad in a purple tunic,
girdled at the waist with a leather belt. Sandals or buskins- I could
not clearly distinguish which- were on his feet; his legs were bare to
the knees, and his head was bare. H.G.Wells was concerned that a two
heir society was forming when he wrote this book, these two heirs were
the ruling privileged clauses (The Haves) and the working class
labourers (The Have Not's), so what Wells did was change the two round
when he wrote this book, he made the Eloi, who had previously been the

The Time Machine is about a man who is a scientist and he wants to see
what the future holds for humans, he builds a time machine. The time
traveller stops off at various different points in the future but he
ends up in the year 802,701 where he finds that the way of life is
extremely different, he finds out that there is two distinct species,
the Eloi and the Morlocks. He sees how the Eloi are treated as food
for the Morlocks and how the Eloi have a life of luxury on the surface
whereas the Morlocks are the hard workers working the machines
underneath the ground. The time traveller is disgusted with what he
sees and is devastated that this is how humans will live in the
future, the time traveller stays and helps the Eloi defeat the
Morlocks, as he doesn't like the way things work in this life.
In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by author Ray Bradbury we are taken into a place of the future where books have become outlawed, technology is at its prime, life is fast, and human interaction is scarce. The novel is seen through the eyes of middle aged man Guy Montag. A firefighter, Ray Bradbury portrays the common firefighter as a personal who creates the fire rather than extinguishing them in order to accomplish the complete annihilation of books. Throughout the book we get to understand that Montag is a fire hungry man that takes pleasure in the destruction of books. It’s not until interacting with three individuals that open Montag’s eyes helping him realize the errors of his ways. Leading Montag to change his opinion about books, and more over to a new direction in life with a mission to preserve and bring back the life once sought out in books. These three individual characters Clarisse McClellan, Faber, and Granger transformed Montag through the methods of questioning, revealing, and teaching.
In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, irony is used to convey information and it contributes to the overall theme of the novel. Written during the era of McCarthyism, Fahrenheit 451 is about a society where books are illegal. This society believes that being intellectual is bad and that a lot of things that are easily accessible today should be censored. The overall message of the book is that censorship is not beneficial to society, and that it could cause great harm to one’s intelligence and social abilities. An analysis of irony in Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury shows that this literary technique is effective in contributing to the overall theme of the novel because it gives more than one perspective on how censorship can negatively affect a society.
War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells Homo - Superior or not? War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells is a fictional story about war and mankind’s coming of age. It is also a philosophical novel with many deep meanings underlying the shallow looking one-hundred-eighty-eight page book. The subject of this novel is Science Fiction and there are not many that can even compete with Wells in terms of how superior his word descriptions are. He simply does wonders with the imagination of the reader.
Timeline started out with a group of scientists/archaeologists digging at an ancient castle site. This site was in a French valley with two main castles, Castelgard and La Roque, a monastery, and a mill. This was the site that ITC, a quantum research facility, picked to go back into time to research. Through quantum physics, ITC was able to make a machine that sent objects and people to a parallel universe that was different from this one. This was the basis of the whole story. Professor Johnston, the leader of the digging group, got curious as to how ITC knew more about the site than he did. Robert Doniger, the owner of ITC, decided that he would show the professor how they knew so much about the site. While the professor was back in time, he wandered out into the open field and got trapped inside the medieval world by the Dordogne River. Doniger then got the brilliant idea of sending back some of the other archaeologists to try and find Professor Johnston because they would know the spots where he would most likely be. The group of four, Andre Marek, Chris Hughes, Kate Erickson, and David Stern flew to the New Mexico site to find the professor. During the pre-tests to see it they were physically capable of going back through the machine, David Stern decided that he was not going to go because he did not trust the machines. The five of them, the three other archaeologists, and the two guides went back to the Dordogne valley in 1387. Right off the bat when they got there, a group of knights saw the futuristic people and chopped off the head of one guide and shot the other guide full of arrows. That left the archaeologists on their own to find the professor. Right away they were astonished by how the castles looked and by how quiet it was. Facing many problems, they soon found out who the professor was in the medieval world and found him. This was a time of war, however, which presented many difficulties in getting out, not to mention the fact that the machines had broken back home and the ITC crew did not think that the shields would hold up.
One of England’s greatest literary figures, William Shakespeare, expressed the truth about coveting knowledge by saying that “ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven” (William Shakespeare Quotes). One must assume that Ray Bradbury, Author of Fahrenheit 451, learned from this. Bradbury’s novel shares a similar portrayal towards coveting knowledge. In the novel the protagonist realizes that he is living in a world where knowledge is lost. People abide by rules and restrictions given to them by the government. There is nothing in this society to make people think about how valuable knowledge is, except for books. The protagonist is a fireman whose job is to seek out books and destroy the contents. The mass population believes that books are a waste of time and useless. The protagonist also believes this until a change of heart leads to a journey of identity and curiosity. Bradbury believes that this type of world will eventually turn into our own. Clearly, Ray Bradbury’s outlook for the future of man is grim because he represses intellectual endeavor, lacks critical thinking, and becomes destructive.
In class we watch a clip called “Journey of Man” and basically the all over view of this movie was about a man named Spencer Wells and his team of scientist researching for approximately 15 years of investigating to find out our family history. They believe that they have discover some life changing information. They had this discovery for a while now but that needed time to gather up all of the facts from their research. This information that they have could transform our view on the world. They have revealed some type of time machine that has allow them to see back in ancient history. For that past ten years this man and his team have been using this time machine to gather all types of different information about the past history. This information came for just once source, blood. Many people views it as and gift from the past, but to scientist it carries the past and has a unique story behind it. A time machine hidden within us.

In the story, Ray Bradbury describes his views on what time travel could look like in the future. At the beginning of the story, he introduces a company called Time Safari, Inc. who takes people back in time to hunt if they pay Time Safari ten thousand dollars.
Monsters under the bed, drowning, and property damage are topics many people have nightmares about; nightmares about a dystopian future, on the other hand, are less common. Despite this, Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and George Orwell’s 1984 display a nightmarish vision about a dystopian society in the near future. Fahrenheit 451 tells of Guy Montag’s experience in a society where books have become illegal and the population has become addicted to television. Meanwhile, 1984 deals with Winston Smith’s affairs in Oceania, a state controlled by the totalitarian regime known as the Party. This regime is supposedly headed by a man named Big Brother. By examining the dehumanized settings, as well as the themes of individuality and manipulation, it becomes clear that novels successfully warn of a nightmarish future.
Eddy decides to make an easy trip and only go back one day. A fun day so he can live it once more. When he went back, he saw himself having fun, and saw his new bike that was stolen. He had solved who had stolen his bike. Once he came back to the real time, he wondered if he could fix things that went wrong in the past. He wanted to be the hero who saved time. Eddy left his bike in the back porch where it is stolen again, but it comes back the next day by its self with no driver. Next, he decides to help his Uncle, go to Henry Thoreau’s time to find out how he lived, and tell him. After, he decides to go to Rome, but then his sister Eleanor had taken the time bike.
The novel The Maze Runner by James Dashner begins with a teenage boy waking up in an elevator who has no memory of the past, only that his name is Thomas. When the doors of the elevator open up he is pulled into a humongous square surrounding, called the Glade, by a group of teenage boys. The boys in the Glade refer to themselves as the ‘Gladers’. Thomas learns that the Gladers have lived in there for two years and that the Glade is located in the center of a maze which contains a labyrinth of high walls that move during the night and deadly creatures called grievers. The Glade is led by two boys, Alby and Newt; they both maintain order in the Glade by enforcing strict rules and jobs that keep the Gladers busy. A day after Thomas’ arrival an unknown girl arrives in the Glade. This shocks everyone because the Gladers only receive a new person every month, never within the same week. This also shocks everyone because she was the only girl in a maze full of boys. The girl also gives a message that everything is going to change and that she is the last one ever. Right after her message she immediately falls into a coma. The arrival of the girl causes many things to go chaotic including the sun seizing to rise, the Gladers stop receiving supplies from the creators of the maze, and the doors of the Glade that protect the Gladers from the grievers at night stop closing. When the girl, Teresa wakes up she informs Thomas that they both knew each other in the past and that the maze was a code. Thomas and the people who run around the maze to map out the labyrinth, the runners, look through the archives of the maps and find out the code. Time Travel has always struck close to the imagination of the minds. From H.G. Wells ' "The Time Machine" to blockbuster films like "Back to the Future" - for years, time travel was the stuff of science fiction and crazy-eyed mad men but as physicists approach the subject of time travel with new advances in scientific theories and equipment, the possibility of time travel has become a more legitimate field for scientific endeavours. This paper will argue the possibility of time travel and the positive effects that this discovery will bring forth to modern day society: technological advancements.
The future depicted by H.G. Wells in The Time Machine is plausible, but only in certain ways such as the idea of the working class eventually surpassing the rich upper class and gradually taking over. In the future depicted by H.G. Wells we can see that he very clearly highlights the class distinction between the rich and the poor. This future created by Wells is one where society has evolved so much that there is no longer a need for any kind of improvement. The society they live in is one without need for medicine, weapons, or even technology. The Morlocks are the working class who live underground beneath the Eloi, they work to support the Eloi but eventually we learn that they have begun to eat their upper class rulers known as the Eloi. H.G. Wells creates a future where society has evolved so much that it has actually devolved and restored earth to something representative of prehistoric times. This future created by Wells is definitely possible in some respects but in looking at if this physical prediction is plausible, then it loses some of its weight. The future where humans have devolved back to the point of being fragile, dumb, useless creatures as embodied in the Eloi is a little much to believe in, but the premise of the lower class staging a mutiny is one the on small scales has already happened in society and could certainly transpire in the future.
