The song I choose “Thunderstruck” is a song by AC/DC. This song is a typical hard rock song. The song is about a celebration and having a good time. “Thunderstruck” is well known for the beginning of the song, the song alone is played at many sports games, race car races, and even in some movie, even our own Holmes connection team was the beginning of the song, when they're introducing the singers in a video.
Malcolm and Angus Young Had the idea for the band's name after their sister, Margaret Young, saw the initials "AC/DC" on a sewing machine. According to Webster dictionary, AC/DC stands for alternating current/direct current. The band AC/DC is an Australian rock band and they're considered to be the pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal music. The group was formed in Sydney, Australia in December 1973. In 2003 AC/DC was inducted into the rock in roll hall of fame. The band alone has sold over two million copies. In 1976 Rolling Stone reviewed AC/DC's first album "Hard Rock has unquestionably hit its all-time low." They finally appeared on the cover in 2008.

Davis is the tall country boy but seems to be a little bit of a teddy bear inside. Davis stated that the song puts him in a good mood throughout the game and during games. In the short story, "A Sound of Thunder" a man named Eckels tests the delicacy of life while traveling back in time to hunt the most ferocious predator to ever walk the planet. Ray Bradbury develops the theme that every choice made has an effect so we must be cautious of our actions in times of confidence, fear and guilt. The old saying “The South never dies” appears to be all but accurate in William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury. Each member of the Compson Family is practically a contrary of old southern ideals and beliefs. Caddy’s promiscuity, Benjy’s mental disability, Jason’s vulgar attitude towards his family, Quentin’s crooked obsession with Caddy, Ms. Quentin’s rebellious attitude due to her own upbringing, and Mrs. Compson’s ability to see her children as punishments from God; they all diverge from an idyllic well-ordered Southern family. Mr. Compson was the only member who managed to held on to his Southern Morality for the most part, only straying from the norm after the death of his son, Quentin. Each character in their own way depicts how old Southern ideals of gentility have begun and continue to dissolve.
Woody Guthrie was an extremely talented and relatable musician who was able to bring joy to people’s lives through his songs. Becoming a person who can relate to people usually doesn’t just happen. Guthrie’s childhood was fairly comfortable until some major events took place. These events in his personal life along with huge dust storms in the area he was living caused his life as he knew it to completely change. Although many would see these hard times as a negative, Guthrie used them as a way to connect with the common people who also were going through rough times in the dust bowl. Not only was he able to connect with them, but he was able to create happiness in people’s who otherwise would mainly be filled with completely negative thoughts. In the book Bound for Glory by Woody Guthrie the reader is able to explore the experiences that created such an influential and motivational character in the history of music.
The United States of America has participated in over seven wars, and currently participating in three ongoing wars. Many of these wars have been fought overseas, one of the most widely protested wars, was that of the Vietnam war. During the Vietnam War, the United States military decided to not only fight from the ground but also in the clouds. With the Presidents command the United States Air Force created bombing campaigns over Southeast Asia hoping that it would help with defeating the guerilla fighters and cutting off supplies from those aiding them in the North. The changes in rock and roll music reflected the mood of the population in the United States during the Vietnam War. Rock and roll, written as rock ‘n’ roll, music was fully born in the 1950’s and formed from electric blues and gospel music. Rock and roll is characterized by electric guitars, a strong rhythm and youth-orientated music. This music became popular because of the children of the decade. Parents called this type of music “noise.” While parents were listening to calm music, their children were listening to rock n roll.
There are many different types of Rock music. However, Classic Rock, Metal, and Modern Rock are a few of the most common types that people tend to hear nearly every day. There are countless numbers of bands who fit into the category of being a Classic Rock, Metal, or Modern Rock band. For example, the bands I listed previously were: Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Tesla for Classic Rock; KISS, Metallica, and Motley Crue for Metal; and Shinedown, Linkin Park, and Three Days Grace for Modern Rock. However, there could be many more listed under each category. For instance, ACDC could fit under the Classic Rock category, Slayer could fit under the Metal category, and Nirvana could fit under the Modern Rock category. Whichever is your favorite, just remember to rock on!
The rush and thrill of rock music is an indescribable and legal drug. It is meant to enhance or momentarily consume an individual. Playing on stage, getting involved in the audience or listening to music in your own environment are ways to experience the power of music. Bloom’s conclusion on the ecstasy that rock music creates is partially true depending on how the artist can return to reality after the thrill.
The Sound and the Fury is a story of sometimes unclear focus. From section to section we listen to three brothers: Benjy, Quintin and Jason, discuss their lives. We discover the inner workings of their home lives. The narratives disclose that their mother, Caroline Compson is a neglectful, hypochondriac. Mrs. Compson is shown to be a very self centered woman who really doesn't harbor any affection for her family and by this lack sends some of them to find mothering from a different source. “ How can I control any of them when you have always taught them to have no respect for me and my wishes I know you look down on my people but is that any reason for teaching my children my own children I suffered for to have no respect.” (Faulkner, 61) We meet Mr. Compson, the father, who is shown to love his children dearly, though in the case of some does not always like them all. He just happens to be an alcoholic, “Father will be dead in a year they say if he doesn't stop drinking and he wont stop he cant stop....” (Faulkner, 79) who is eventually killed by his addictions. Also introduced and discussed are the various household staff members whom the brothers love as if they were family. The brothers discuss horrors and anxieties that they are dealing with in their personal lives. Benjy's horrors of being unable to communicate, being tormented by his brother, Jason, and eventually being castrated due to a misunderstanding cover section one. In section two, Quintin takes his turn to share the anxieties that time and sexuality (among other things) cause him. The last of the brothers narrations, that of Jason, delve into the cruelty he imparts on others, as well as the bitterness and struggles he rapidly accumulates in raising his niece. All o...
...to be contradictions on the subject, as well as opinions on when does an alternative rock group stop being or becomes “alternative rock music”? Is it defined by the sound of the music, the image of the group, or both? One can also ask if it’s about the era or time the group existed, just like the genre term of classic rock. Bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, or Pink Floyd weren’t classified as classic rock music when they were forming and popular during their prime. What really defeats the purpose of the common definition of alternative rock music is during the early 1990’s when popular underground bands like Soundgarden and Nirvana were signed to labels and changed the face of rock music and incorporated the traits that defined alternative rock music into mainstream rock that continue to this day. The term “alternative rock music” has really lost its meaning.
The scene that introduces the audience to Matthew Harrison Brady, in Inherit the Wind, (Dir. Stanley Kramer. With Spencer Tracy, Frederic March, and Gene Kelly. MGM. 1960) uses dialogue, composition, camera work and music to develop Matthew Brady. Kramer reveals important information about the plot of the film in this scene. The scene opens with a bird's eye view shot of the town of Hillsboro, and focuses in on the movement of the parade below. The camera comes to rest on the convertible that transports Brady and his wife. The town of Hillsboro welcomes the well-known politician. He will serve the town by being the prosecutor in a trial about evolution, similar to that of the historical Scopes Trial. This scene, where we first meet Brady, reveals his strong character, and the role of savior that the town expects him to play. Through the development of Brady, Kramer also introduces us to the issues of religion and politics. Stanley Kramer, the director, introduces the audience to two key ideas in the very first shot of the scene. He does this through the use of background tools, like music and scenery. As the camera fades in from the previous scene, music begins to play, and a group of women sing a religious hymn, "Give me that old time religion." The extremely loud music continues for the duration of the parade. At first the audience doesn't know the source of the music, but as the parade comes to an end, the camera focuses on a group of militant looking women, who march and sing.
