Thomas Green is a promising young professional with a degree in Economics from the University of Georgia. Green started his career with a company called National Business Solutions before finding new employment at Dynamic Displays. At National, Green was an account executive in the Banking Division, where he sold ATMs to financial institutions. After six successful years, Green was recruited to become an account executive at Dynamic Displays, where he sold automated kiosks predominantly to airline companies. When Thomas joined Dynamic, he looked to “dazzle” management with the intent of climbing the corporate ladder. Thomas’s work ethic and early achievements did just that. Soon he had garnered the attention of senior executives who were eager to strengthen his relationship with the company. In July 2007, Green attended a training session at the corporate headquarters. During this session the Vice-President of the Travel and Hospitality Division, Shannon McDonald sought him out. Frank is clearly upset about not choosing his replacement for the specialist position he once occupied. These emotions combined with Green’s differing work style have led Davis to do all he can to remove Green from his position. Davis is using his power to push Green into situations where he would be considered for termination. Shannon McDonald made a couple mistakes that contributed to the problem. McDonald should have brought Green in for a formal interview with Davis to decide if he was right for the position. Secondly, McDonald let Green’s charm and their shared connections be the reason for promotion. As a Vice President of the company, she should be well aware of the hierarchy of the organization, and know that, even though she is able to fill positions, it is best to let the supervisor in that area participate in the
