Ever heard of the saying “they’ve gone mad with power”? Whenever a person has total power over a large group and convinces the group to do their bidding, the leader went mad with power. During World War II, Hitler had total control over a large group of people, the Nazis, he used his power as chancellor of Germany to establish concentration camps and had his men torture the jews of eastern europe. Similarly, in Lord of the flies by William Golding, the character jack is given control of a group of his own and he convinces his group to try and help him kill Ralph so that Jack can become leader of the whole island. Whenever leaders have power, they take advantage of this power and can convince their group to do their barbaric bidding.
