Annotation : The book intelligently explores the Vampire movies by analyzing major and minor vampire films. Pirie who is an established journalist, screenwriter and film critic gives an overwhelming historical view of Vampire Cinema before 1977. The book first differentiates the horrific presentation of vampires versus other classic monsters. He introduces us to “Levres du Sang” film and compares the depictions of vampires in such with what is presented in images and rare posters. Similar to what other scholars postulate, Pirie covers the historical mystic and literary relationships as well as the metamorphosis of the depiction of vampire cinema. However, the book does not capture the events that have integrated technology and modernism as with current articles by Godfree and Reye.
