The Wright Brothers
Introduction:
In The Wright Brothers, by David McCullough, he speaks about the making of the first airplanes. He mostly speaks about how the two brothers, had no college learning and were nowhere near professionals. McCullough does a great job distinguishing between the two brothers, because even though they were alike, they had many differences. For this book, David McCullough won two Pulitzer Prizes, this was due to his dramatic story-telling of the two brothers. McCullough did a great job going through all the troubles leading up to the introduction of flying planes. The Wright brothers work ethic relates back to the steps we take in class while doing projects, this is known as the scientific method.

They used the wind tunnel to test the performance of the gliders and the wings of their aircrafts. The wind tunnel was also used to test the drag and the certain lift of the aircraft and their next aircrafts abilities would be based off of the data founded by the wind tunnel.

Key Idea 4: After their new-found data, it was finally time for the Wright brothers to test out their learnings on actual airplanes. The most common place the brothers chose to fly their planes was in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The Wright brothers set off about 1000 planes and gliders off of this famous hill located at Kitty Hawk. They had now transitioned from making unpowered aircrafts to now fully powered aircrafts.
Key Idea 5: The brothers hard work finally payed off on December 17, 1903, this is when the first plane was flown by them. Now that the brothers were finally flying the fully powered aircrafts, they were now known as the most well experienced pilots in the world. This is due to all of their hard work and the past research they have done. David McCullough highly went into detail describing their research efforts.
