In Isaac Bashers Singer’s autobiographical essay “The Washwoman,” the main character overcame steps to do the laundry,her sons denial of her,and the coldness to finish and return the laundry. The wash woman had to follow many directions and procedures in order to pursue her duties. She was over the age of seventy when she started doing laundry for the family.She was a very good expert at doing these clothes, but she did not charge more than anyone else did.The washwoman had very difficult things to do in order to complete her tasks. The washwoman had to do the laundry washing all on her own. The washwoman had to go and retrieve the laundry from the family, and also other families The washwoman did not have any running water, therefore she had to retrieve it from a pump..The washwoman still cleaned the clothes like the rest of the people did, but hers came out with no wrinkles nor anything. The washwoman and to dry and hang the washed clothes in the attic, along with many others clothes.The washwoman had to return these clothes in about two weeks of time.Even if it was cold out, the washwoman still made her way down the roads and delivered the clothes to the families.
