The Wachowski brothers are best known for their second film The Matrix which ultimately led them down the road of success. Even though Bound, the Wachowski’s film debut, was poorly received, when it first premiered in 1996, it has since gained more fame and recognition. Bound can be hard for swallow for some, especially those who are opposed to homosexuality and those with weak stomachs. However, the film Bound has far more to offer than homosexuality and violence. There are plentiful of reasons that make this film worth watching, these by far, outweigh the reasons as to why people may be opposed to watching it, some of them being, a modern take on the classic film noir figure of the femme fatale, and the rare on screen captured chemistry/connection …show more content…

The Wachowski brother’s do a great job in combining many genres into one film without making it seem like there is too much going on. It is an overall well-balanced film with just the right amount of violence, corny humor, sexual kicks, and well-composed twists. Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon are phenomenal in this film, they play their roles so well that some may even believe that they are true lovers off screen. The fact the two have such great chemistry truly adds to the overall experience and make of the movie. Frankly, if Corky’s character would have been played by a man than this film would have not raised anyone’s eyebrows nor would it have been as thrilling. This film is a perfect example of directorial excellence, by taking a classic genre and putting their own very personal spin on it. The Wachowskis took a classic story, and made it their own. It would be boring to see the same film with the same exact story line over and over again. That is why Bound is so marvelous, it stays true to the its original story line that most people appreciate, however, it has a modern and very innovative spin which makes well worth
