The United States Constitution: Article Analysis

The United States Constitution was written during the Philadelphia Convention and signed in Philadelphia in the Assembly Room of the Pennsylvania State House on September 17th, 1787(National Constitution Center). Since the publication of the Constitution there have been no changes to the original articles within the Constitution, only very few changes have been made, which were the additions of new amendments. The seven articles that are stated in the Constitution are the basis of our government system. The powers stated in the seven articles establishes the state’s powers, the powers of the three branches of government, the ratification process, and the checks and balances. Most of which are lobbyist or are congressmen(A Glossary of Political Economy Terms). Many of these congressmen who are elitist, focus only on making laws that will further benefit them and not the public. Since most of the congressmen are not representing the public that sent them there, we need to ensure that we have better representation in our government system. With a limited term set in place, we are able to make sure that one person does not have too much power in being in office for a long period of time. This will only benefit our nation because we would push out any further corruption in our systems of government and we are able to also make greater improvements in choosing representatives that will actually listen to our wants and …show more content…

To ensure that we decrease the amount of abuse of power we can limit the terms both in the House of Representatives and the Senate. I believe that we should have congressmen serve three two-year terms rather than having two-year terms with reelections in the House of Representatives and six-year terms with one-third up for reelections in the Senate(United States Congress). By placing a limitation on congress we are able to push out any corruption that is caused by politicians who have served the same position over and over again. This would also put a pause on the corrupt process between politicians and lobbyist due to the fact that they would have to bribe someone else for votes(Sen. Cruz and Rep). No matter what amendment is made there will always be pros and cons to it. Not having a limitation on congress’s term can result in a blockage of good ideas, a larger formation of political elitist, and further corruption in our political system. By placing a limitation on congress's term we can easily slow down the process of corruption, the formation of political elitist, and bring it better and newer ideas. If we do not place a term limitation on our congressmen we can be assured that these incumbents will be welcomed back and will continue to make changes that will not be favorable to its
