Leadership, service and character are extremely important to me. I cannot make a difference in the world without these three attributes. They are the pillars of people like President Obama and Bill Gates. I would not be the person I am today if I hadn’t realized the importance of these three traits. They will help me succeed in anything. Most importantly, they will help me recognize my full potential and create a path to a successful, meaningful and happy life.
Leadership is defined as “guiding a group.” For me, leadership is when someone pushes a group in a direction that is best for everyone. Leadership is about being selfless and caring about what is best for the members of the group. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot for doing what was best for the people who followed him. When I was the captain of a Knowledge Bowl team, I sat out one round even though I was the best competitor on the team. I did it because, for our team, competing was more important than winning. We had seven players, but only six could participate in a round. I decided that since there were seven competitions, one player would sit out one round. As the president of T.R.A.C . (Teen Reading Advisory Committee). Every year, I set up and work fundraisers so our group can buy books for the school library. I also make sure that our members are having fun and we have enough money to go out to lunch at the end of the year. This year, I am also the junior class Treasurer. It is a hard job and I ran for it unopposed because nobody was willing to work hard for the good of our entire class. I collect the class dues and organize all of the money that goes in and out of our junior class account. I make sure that our class has enough money for a trip and look for good d...

...aracter is extremely important to have because without it, people would fall into chaos. Imagine a world where nobody protected each other and lied all the time. Character is necessary to become a good person because without honor, there’s shame, without courage, there’s cowardice and without integrity there’s deceit.
Character, service and leadership are all very important virtues. It takes character to be a good person. I believe that the qualities of integrity, honor and courage are critical to succeed in life. I am heavily involved in service because I consider service to be the basis of human kindness. I strive to exemplify leadership in everything I do. I hope that, by leading people, I can make a difference and change the world for the better. I think that these three pillars will help me accomplish all of my ambitions and, idealistically, all of my dreams.
I am also a role model to them by not giving up on my goals and teaching them about the importance of family and how you should spend quality time with the people you love. The third and last reason I exemplify the traits of leadership is because I lead by example in the community. I show good manners like please and thank you along with opening doors and helping other people. If I see someone that is struggling to carry something or if they drop an item and need help picking it up, I do not hesitate to step in and help the person in need. I have observed that a simple smile and a friendly gesture of hello can go a long way when being nice to someone to make their day better in anyway I know how to.

A self-funded group, that provide student with leadership and public service opportunities. It provides student with a lifetime experience and allows their leadership skills to grow. As the President, I coordinate and organize events that allow members to serve there community. With a very strong team, we are able to accomplish our duties as leaders.

Many scholars have given different definitions of leadership: Leaders are people who do the right thing; managers are people who do things right (Professor Warren G. Leadership is being able to direct or guide other people by either your own actions or by actually guiding them into the right direction (Acumen). Inspiration to be a leader might come from many different areas like your family, friends, peers, or even teachers. My inspiration didn’t really occur to me until I started attending college in August 2013. In all actuality I never even thought of how to be a leader until I was in Mrs. Moore’s Perspectives class. I now have a desire to be a great leader, and the inspiration has come from Mrs. Moore, and my family. I am the first to attend college out of my family, so in a away I have already started leading my siblings in the right direction. Being a leader means inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and aspirations and helping throughout the journey to success. Being a leader has nothing with authority or being able to tell other what, and how to do things, it’s about having people who look up to you and want to follow your example.
What is leadership? Leadership is having the ability to give guidance to those that will follow. Those that follow will help to complete the mission. Leadership is a soft science, just as anthropology, sociology and psychology. It cannot be proven exactly what it is. Leadership is an art, the skillful application of leadership behaviors beyond techniques is much the same as the skillful application of brushstrokes by a master painter. Leadership is both rational and emotional. It involves both sides of human experience. It includes actions and influences based on reason and logic as well those based on inspiration and passion. Leadership is a social process shared among all members of a group. Leadership development comes through experience. We all learn from our different experiences. Whether positive or negative, they are our tools for growth and development.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
To me, it’s imperative that a person is honest and treats everybody equally with no discrimination. I prefer seeing those who are also enlightened about their careers and how it could drive them to motivate others. Given the chance of being a leader, I would likely follow these aspects so that everybody could be respectful and motivated enough to produce
Perhaps the most important qualities of a leader are passion and motivation. Especially when leading a group for a particular cause, a leader must be personally attached to that cause. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., for example, is a legendary leader because he fought for a cause that directly affected him. had he not been pushing for a personal reason, his actions would not have been as passionate. This would have caused a lack in motivation, another essential leadership quality. A leader faces many roadblocks and opposition and thus, must be motivated to continue fighting and leading. A leader’s attitude and opinions are valued by the group and therefore, if a leader is motivated, the group will be, too. The continued actions and successes, no matter how small, which move the group closer to its goal also help its motivation and drive.
There are many different things I think of when I think of what leadership means to me. My idea of leadership is to be able to inspire others, get them excited to do something, motivate them and set an example to others. I also think that showing respect to others is a key part of leadership. You don’t just need leadership qualities, but you need to be a successful leader. To me being a successful leader is being able to have people follow you and not disrespect you. If you are a great leader your followers start to respect you more. To be a leader you also need to have certain qualities like being sociable, intelligent, have patience to deal with situations. A leader needs to be motivated or they will be a failure. I think I show leader ship all the time inside and outside of school. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (John C. Maxwell).
In evaluating myself as a leader I have found that I have many weaknesses that need to be improved upon before being able to lead effectively. This may because I have never really been in a position of leadership, subsequently falling into a follower’s role most of my life. Even though I am not comfortable in a position of leadership, I do exhibit many of the strengths that good leaders need in order to succeed. I feel that I have a strong belief and value system that has helped to guide me through many difficult situations. At the core of my beliefs and values are a belief in morality and ethics, kindness, compassion, empathy, hard work, love, good will towards others, a belief that everyone has something good to offer, a love of learning
One of the most important components of leadership is the leader. A leader is responsible for his or her followers and the overall goal of the group or organization. Leaders are the people held accountable or everything that happens, good or bad. On the other hand, the second major component of leadership is the followers. Without followers, a leader would be worthless. Followers make up the backbone of a leader because they are the masses that get goals accomplished. In order to be an effective follower, there are a countless number of characteristics that allow a follower to be the best they can be. Five of these characteristics include a positive attitude, communication skills, being part of the process, being open to new ideas, and patience.

Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill, regarding the ability of an individual or organization to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams, or entire organizations. Leadership can not be defined by just one word but by action. I have seen development within myself through my volunteer service. Leadership is both a research area and a practical opportunity to share the ability gained as an individual, also through my organization, to lead or guide other individual team members who have a common goal. Volunteering in the church organizations matches my need to be of service to others.
