To begin with lets start off with what an investigation is, an investigation is “An investigation is the process of planning and conducting appropriate lines of inquiry to obtain the evidence required to objectively determine the factual basis of allegations.” According to the United Nations Development Programme Office of Audit and Investigations. And a Preliminary investigation is limited scope inquiry undertaken to verify whether an allegation merits a full investigation. As a first responder on a scene he will conduct a preliminary investigation that will in the end help solve the crime. Propose one strategy that criminal investigators should take in order to conduct an efficient follow up investigation. Provide rational reasoning to support your answer. One strategy that criminal investigators should take in order to conduct efficient follow up investigations is that you need to make sure you have enough evidence and a well thought out plan in order to conduct an efficient follow up investigation. If you think about it if you do not have enough evidence when to go back to make a follow up investigation you might not find everything that you could of on that subject or person which will not benefit you in any way shape or from possible it may actually hurt your case and cause you not to accomplish your goal in this case. And you also need to have a well thought out plan. Not some plan that you came up with sitting on the toilet. You need to have this plan thought out down to every detail and you need to have it on paper or recorded so you can memorize your plan. Having a plan will always help you in the long run because then you will always have something to go by and have something to look back upon when you feel like you are going off track or are getting lost in your way of thinking during this project. To expand on my previous statement about having enough evidence you also want to have things like testimonials and recording to back up your evidence. The two crimes that I chose are going to have to be murder and sexual assault. The reason I chose these two crimes was because these two crimes interest me the most. The definition of murder is the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being to another human being or to kill someone unlawfully and with the premeditated aspect. Premeditated means to think out or plan an action, or especially a crime beforehand. Murder has to be premeditated because if it is not and it was a possible accident then in that case it would be considered manslaughter, but this is only considered this if the killing is an accident. For example, if a lady is playing around with a weapon and it goes of and strikes a person in the chest, then this may be considered manslaughter because she did not have the intent to kill the other person. Now the key differences in reporting these two crimes would be that one for the murder crime you could not put everyones information and you also have to make sure that if there is confidential evidence that you don 't leak it out to the press because that is against the law and your county can be sued for that. You need to make sure that the public knows what the murderer looks like so that he can be on the lookout for him or
