The Things I Carry

The essay that I am going to write about is the items that I carry in my life that help m deal with the conflict that is going on in our world today. The three main items that I am going to talk about that I carry are my electronics, handbag, and backpack. These three items hold a special place in my heart because I use them in my everyday life.
The first item that I carry with me every day that has a specific meaning to me are my electronics. They include my laptop, iPhone, and the accessories that go with my laptop and iPhone. The items that I carry in my handbag include my jewelry, wallet, reminders, and little pieces of paper that I keep in there. My jewelry has a specific meaning to me because it is what I wear and put on every day. My jewelry includes my necklace and my wrist watch. I put my necklace on every day because it holds a special place in my heart. I like to wear necklaces because it makes me look and feel pretty. I put my wrist watch on every day because it makes me feel smart and look professional and I like wearing wrist watches. My wallet holds a specific meaning to me because it is where I put things that I value most, like my school ID, library card, credit cards, rewards card for shopping, receipts for grocery shopping, shopping, money, change, and my state ID. Each of the items that I have in my wallet are important to me because they are items that I use for notable events and occasions or sometimes just use in my everyday life. I don’t know what I would do if I ever lost my wallet because it is such an important item in my life and it gives me a sense of responsibility and security. In The Things They Carried, Tim O’ Brien states, “The things they carried were determined to some extent by superstition” (O’Brien 113). This means that they carried things for good luck and they believed in having things that were not to be explain by human beings happening, in case they ended up in a situation where something bad happened, like one of the soldiers getting badly injured, shot at, or dying. The little reminders and pieces of notes that I carry in my handbag also hold a specific meaning to me, because I sometimes forget something that I have not done or a password to either an email account or social media accounts.
