In Unwind the author develops the theme that in society, the easiest way isn't always the best way. In the beginning part of the book show this theme by describing how Connor ran away from his home and the parents of his home made Connor hate his parents and made it harder on themselves. This shows that the parents didn't want her son anymore and the easiest way out backfired on them. In the middle of the book it added that the medical field has gotten lazy using unwind parts to fix health problems and relide of unwinds too much. In the high criminal neighborhood where the other Wes lived, people who live there need a positive role model or a mentor to lead them to a better future. Usually the older family members are the person they can look up to. The other Wes’s mother was not there when the other Wes felt perplexed about his future and needed her to support and give him advises. Even though the other Wes’s mother moved around and tried to keep the other Wes from bad influences in the neighborhood, still, the other Wes dropped out of school and ended up in the prison. While the author Wes went to the private school every day with his friend Justin; the other Wes tried to skip school with his friend Woody. Moore says, “Wes had no intention of going to school. He was supposed to meet Woody later – they were going to skip school with some friends, stay at Wes’s house, and have a cookout” (59). This example shows that at the time the other Wes was not interested in school. Because Mary was busy at work, trying to support her son’s education, she had no time and energy to look after the other Wes. For this reason, she did not know how the other Wes was doing at school and had no idea that he was escaping school. She missed the opportunities to intervene in her son’s life and put him on the right track. Moreover, when the author was in the military school, the other Wes was dealing drugs to people in the streets and was already the father of a child. In the book, Till the end of June, by Cris Beam. The overall theme is about foster care. Foster care in relation with the kids, the parents who take care of the kids, and the corporations that oversee the foster parents care and guidance. The book is broken up by parts, each part has different foster parents caring for different foster children. A lot of the book is regulations that both the kids and the parents must undergo. A lot of kids have come from dysfunction homes and are either forced to foster care or our put there by the choice of the parent(s). I believe the author was trying to accomplish the fact of what the kids and parents go through in tough situations.
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is an eye opening novel by Jamie Ford following the life of Chinese American, Henry Lee, and his Japanese American companion Keiko Okabe and their struggle throughout a period of discrimination, prejudice and paranoia in Settle Washington during World War Two. At first glance, one might assume that the theme of the book is along the lines of something romantic; however, there is one reoccurring theme that is misunderstandings and misinterpretations can lead to harmful situations. This theme is seen quite often through the book; however, three of the most preeminent instances are Henry had believed Keiko had stopped caring for him when instead his father had prevented Henry from receiving his letters, when Henry’s father and the rest of the community had believed all Japanese were inherently their nemeses, and when Henry kept his past a secret to Marty because the thought it would upset Marty.

The novel also focuses around the theme of a broken relationship between father and son as well as facing difficult situations from ones past. Amir and Hassan are best friends with two completely different personalities. Each character in the novel faces their own hardships and eventually learns to overcome those difficulties. Beginning with betrayal then the characters have to make their way to gaining redemption and forgiveness from others, as well as their self, is carried on throughout the novel. It is a continuous story of the relationships between Amir and his father Baba and facing their challenges from the past every day of their present.
“It was not easy to live in Shanghai” (Anyi 137). This line, echoed throughout Wang Anyi 's short piece “The Destination” is the glowing heartbeat of the story. A refrain filled with both longing and sadness, it hints at the many struggles faced by thousands upon thousands trying to get by in the city of Shanghai. One of these lost souls, the protagonist, Chen Xin, was one of the many youths taken from his family and sent to live the in the countryside during the Cultural Revolution. Ten years after the fact, Chen Xin views the repercussions of the Cultural Revolution internally and externally as he processes the changes that both he, and his hometown have over-gone in the past ten years. Devastatingly, he comes to the conclusion that there is no going back to the time of his childhood, and his fond memories of Shanghai exist solely in memory. This is in large part is due to the changes brought on by the Cultural Revolution. These effects of the Cultural Revolution are a central theme to the story; with repercussions seen on a cultural level, as well as a personal one.

Attempting to leave the train, Howie lost his life trying to give his banjo to Josh. Dying right in front of his best, and only friend, was an event that Josh would remember for the rest of his life. Grieving, Josh and Joey do not know what they are going to do without their buddy, for without his optomistic attitude or talented musical skills they lost faith in themselves.

Eternal is defined as lasting or existing forever; without end or beginning. There comes a time in life where everyone must face the reality of death. Death is a stage of life that is often feared by many. Some view death as the beginning of a new chapter in their life beyond the physical world rather than it being an ending. On a daily basis death is both experienced and avoided. The understanding and acceptance of death comes with time. The theme of death can be seen in Dickenson 's "Because I Could Not", Donne 's "Death, Be Not Proud and Thomas 's "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" through acceptance, optimism and age respectively.
In Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, “True redemption is when guilt leads to good” (302) is the theme of the novel. Feeling endless guilt is tiring; it hangs on a person’s shoulders and drags him or her down everywhere. Amir felt constant guilt his whole life from the way he treated Hassan and after he overheard Baba talking to Rahim Khan about how he never stands up for himself. Amir tried to find redemption his entire life, but did not succeed until he went back to Kabul to find Sohrab. Amir cowardice caused him to live a guilty life, but in the end it led to true redemption.

One of the main themes in the novel, Unwind by Neal Shusterman, is that all life, in whatever form it takes, has intrinsic value and should be cherished to the greatest extent. In the passage, the Admiral signs an order for Harlan, his son, to be unwound because he was caught stealing but later changes his mind, however it was too late. This novel is centered on the idea of parents unwinding their children when the child was deficient in some way because unwinding was “a more…efficient option.” The parents wouldn’t be able to stop the action in any way because once they signed the order, “it had already been done”, there was no turning back. The Admiral realized that he made a rash decision and regrets that he didn’t appreciate his son more.

In conclusion, the narrator finds her sense of hope, security and faith being shattered when she undergoes trauma after she loses her husband and four year old son in a terrorist attack. She has her emotions break her down; however, she stands against them only to have her faith in society shattered once more. Finally, she opens up her eyes to reality which in turn sets her free from her misery. Overall, sometimes the truth might be painful, but knowing can be beneficial in the long run.
