The telescope has changed the world greatly by being able to make distant objects appear closer and more distinct. It helped scientists to discover things that could not be seen by the naked eye. For example, a lot of things in space would have not been discovered if it were not for the telescope. Also, it helped the world of eyesight. It would not only let you see objects from far away, it would also help you see if you had a problem with it. It could also be used for other things: hunting, war, and making new discoveries. What would the world be like without the telescope?
I don’t know what the world would be like, but I some very good reasons why it was good that the telescope was created. Before there was the telescope people had to make discoveries by judgment. They were not very accurate discoveries. They also had to just use the naked eye when they would have to use the naked eye when looking at distant objects that could have been easily seen by the telescope. Galileo Galilei was born in 1564, and was invested into science. Due to rumors in the year of 1609, about a Dutch who invented a device that zoomed in on distant objects (this was known as a spyglass earlier in the years, now its known as a telescope. He heard that a patent had been requested, but was not granted. There was a lot of value in this because the methods were kept secret, and this could be used in the military for Holland. Due to the rumors, Galilei was soon determined and driven to construct his own spyglass. Within 24 hours, only using his knowledge, experimentation, and pieces of the rumors, and never seeing the actual Dutch spyglass, Galilei soon found himself building a 3-power telescope. With some tweaks, he soon had a 10 power-telescope. From here, he demonstrated this it a Senate, and his salary was raised, and honored with proclamations. This shows how smart Galilei was, being able to construct his own telescope with nothing but his brain.

The thought of having a telescope in space able to take pictures of celestial objects outside of the Milky Way never even came close to crossing scientists minds. All the pictures the Hubble has taken have been released to the public allowing people of all ages to marvel at their beauty. Many people enjoy looking and learning from the photographs. In the future the James Webb Space Telescope will hopefully further scientists knowledge about space. The Hubble had executed its tasks perfectly even though it had some troubles along its way. It is hard to argue that the enlightenment does not heavily impact our lives today; and without the philosophers and scientists of that time, the world would be a completely different place. In 1975, the European Space Agency and NASA began to develop the telescope that would change astronomy for ever. In 1977, Congress approved funding for the development of the space telescope and NASA named Lockheed Martin Aerospace Company as the prime contractor to oversee its construction. In 1983, the telescope was finished and was named after Edwin Hubble, an American astronomer whose observations of variable stars in distant galaxies confirmed that the universe was expanding and gave support to the "Big Bang" theory.

Copernicus was a Polish astronomer born in 1473, in Thorn, Poland and died in 1543. He entered the University of Krakow in 1491 and studied there for four years. In 1496 he joined the University of Bologna in Italy to study church law and studied astronomy on his own time. He was asked to make a new calendar using the geocentric theory, the theory that the sun and moon orbit the earth. He found several flaws with this system and was bothered by it and went on to discover that the planets actually orbit the sun. Galileo supported Copernicus’ theory when he made discoveries with the telescope. We consider Copernicus to be the founder of modern Astronomy.
