The Success Factor In the past century, life in the United States has been propelled by an ethereal American dream. Immigrants and citizens alike are striving to fulfill their own idea of success despite the formidable obstacles that might come their way. However, the American Dream changes as new generations assume their roles in society. Factors such as life expectancy, advanced technology, and cultural values influence how an individual views success and how she or he will make a place for herself or himself in the world. Additionally, people are beginning to view the world differently once they achieve the success they had been working for, especially since life has been elongated. Success, the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Success, the attainment of popularity or profit. Success, the complete bedrock of the American Dream and foundation of American potential. While the definition of success is perpetually changing, the hope and catalysis for improvement it brings is everlasting. As life changes and elongates, people begin to view themselves differently as well as the world around them. In fact, life is so long that people are willing to die because they feel that they are no longer able to accomplish anything that will lead them to success. As a supporter of assisted death described, “They [those who wish to die] do [it] because they're not able to do any of the things that they've always enjoyed doing — that give them any kind of pleasure. They can't do those things anymore. And they have a complete loss of autonomy, they're dependent upon other people to care for them, and they feel that they've lost all dignity” (“When Prolonging Death Seems Worse Than Death”). The American dream was freedom , many immigrants came here for freedom, the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion the freedom of press so on so on. The American dream was also to start a new life start off fresh. The American dream was a new richer and better life to the immigrants that migrated to the United States of America.
To do what makes oneself happy. The American Dream is represented in many different ways and every person lives and chases a different version of the American Dream. Chris McCandless lived his American dream by walking alone into the wilderness of Alaska. The song written by Toby Keith, “American Soldier”, shows the price some pay for their dreams and ours to come true. Jay Gatsby died trying to acheive his dream and get the girl he loved, but died happy because he had pursued her until his death. The band All Time Low wrote a song called “The Reckless and The Brave” that brings a new light to how we go about achieving our dreams. So I believe that the American Dream is all about doing what will make you the happiest in the end.
For many americans the american dream is living in a country where all citizen have equal rights, have a stable jobs, achieving financial success and being able to afford all your wants and needs and lastly supporting your family. The american dream is achievable for most of the us but the other half believes it isn't. they believe you must be wealthy, have a high education and have a white collar job. But in reality all you need to achieve the american dream is having a job you like and being successful, having enough to afford your want and need. A very popular concept in America is that of the American Dream - the idea that everyone can achieve success through hard work. I think the concept of the American Dream is one of the reasons that social strife has not occurred in the United States. While not true for everyone, believing in the American Dream provides a sense of hope that the situation can improve. I believe anyone can attain the American dream with hardwork and determination. My american dream is to go to my dream college Ohio State University; I have always wanted to go there and they have a fantastic medical school. My career choice is to be an orthopedic physician assistant. I have always loved medicine and this job allows for more free time than a doctor. My dream house would be in Hawaii near the beach; I love warm places and the beach.

In society, it is often emphasized that pursuing what one considers important is a commendable goal. In order for a goal to be reached, one must put time into it. This time can either be an investment or a waste, depending on whether a goal is reached. If time is invested, then the goal that was being pursued has been reached, and one receives a reward. It is expected that the reward will be proportional to the amount of time invested.
How are individuals successful? Does practice make perfect? Does hard work beat talent? Do thousands of hours need to be spent practicing to be great? Where does success come from?

Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
Success takes many different definitions. People have different interpretations of what success really means. For me is as simple as: living well and laughing often. The idea of living well is a very broad statement. Living well, in my opinion is getting success in personal, social and professional life. If I can achieve all of these three levels of success, I believe that I have lived well.
