It is human nature to strive for perfection, but we are striving for something that can never be reached. Nothing can be perfect according to Leo Tolstoy, who stated, “If you look for perfection, you’ll never be content”. (Tolstoy) We as humans have strived to reach perfection for many centuries now and we still have yet to achieve perfection, but this is no surprise. Wais, who wrote the paper Does Perfection Exist, said, “Perfection exists as an abstraction of our minds, but is not attainable in the physical world.” (“Does Perfection Exist”, Wais) The struggle for perfection in Aldous Huxley’s book Brave New World demonstrates that humanity can never be perfect.

No matter how hard humans have tried to achieve perfection none could ever reach perfection. Perfection is the allusion made by the human mind. Perfection is described as “the quality or state of being perfect: freedom from flaws, having maturity, and the quality or state of being saintly”. (Merriam-Webster) In Brave New World, Huxley proved that humanity can never be perfect through his main characters and in the world created for the characters to live in, The World State. Every main character has their own flaws, some are bigger than others are and some are not as visible. The main characters in the book names are Bernard, John, and Lenina. The World State is the world created for the characters to live in, but this world has flaws too. The World State is supposed to be the perfect world. The community motto is stability, identity, and community, “Over the main entrance the words central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre, and, in a shield, the World State’s motto, community, identity, stability.” (Huxley, 5) The World State itself has many flaws.
