The setting of the novel, 1984, by George Orwell, is set in Oceania. It's bright outside, but cold to the touch. Its middle of April, it's gloomy and sad. Its set in a utopian community called Oceania. The setting is just the beginning of this novel. Winston, out main character, is the protagonist. He is old, about fifty or more years old. He has a mature, but childish mindset. He knows the Party runs everything. "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU"(3). Julia is another important character, she is young, and beautiful.
