While I was reading the assigned text on Samuel Sewall, I learned some interesting facts. Going into this text, I felt as if it would be quite interesting and different than what we’ve been previously reading; however, it was very similar to the other pieces of Literature we’ve read so far this semester. While reading, I discovered and took notes on the following things, that I found to be interesting about Samuel Sewall.
➔ Samuel Sewall became a scholar, judge, and a writer
◆ He played many roles throughout his life, with the writing being more of a stronger topic for him.
➔ Sewall’s Diary is well known all over the world for being one of his best works.
➔ I found it very interesting that Sewall wrote a book entitled, “The Selling of Joseph”, which was the first antislavery piece of Literature.

➔ I also noticed that Samuel Sewall was very detailed, like many of the other writers we’ve read about.
The second part of the assigned reading was to read “The Selling of Joseph”, which was Sewall’s piece on Antislavery. I really enjoy learning about the entire topic of History, but Slavery is one of the top choices.
