Fate plays a really huge role in Romeo and Juliet . They are both part of a huge family feud between two families. Before Romeo enter the party he says there is a unknown danger " hanging in the stars ". But what is fate? Fate is something you have no power to defy but influences your life. It was fate that made Romeo and Juliet meet and fall in love, it was their decision to meet for the second time. It was fate that their families hated each other, but it was their decision not to follow this pattern. It was their choice to get married, it was Juliet's choice to pretend she died, but it was fate she woke up at the wrong time. Suicide was their choice, but they had no influence upon the situation and upon that terrible world where life is ruled by prejudice. The play of fate becomes evident as Romeo and Juliet are born into families who have a strong sense of animosity. When Juliet discovers Romeo’s true identity, she is upset for the name, Montague represents. Juliet says, “My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me, That I must love a loathèd enemy” .When Juliet states, she falls in love with “a loathèd enemy,” it is ironic how she blames fate for loving an enemy, but her short lasting happiness comes from being in love with Romeo.
