Women in The Palestinian Territories:

It is hard for many Americans to imagine that other countries are still fighting for equality for women. Other countries face discrimination against women, and women do not have many of the rights that Americans were born with. The Palestinian territories are an example of those countries. In this research paper, we will explore the history of the Palestinian territories. We will look at the rights of women and what struggles women still face today when it comes to topics such as marriage, divorce, and education. We will explore the forms of violence against women in the Palestinian territories, and the organizations that strive to help these women.
Historically, the term Palestine has been used to describe the geographic region between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. Its exact borders have changed over the years as the region has fallen under rule of many leaders. Around 330 BCE, Alexander the Great liberated the region and made it a Roman province .

The WATC have four main programs that women in the Palestinian territories can take part in. These programs include: the lobbying and advocating program, the empowerment program, the young leaders program, and the media and community awareness program.
In conclusion, women in Palestine must remain active and aware in the fight against Israeli occupation. It is an everyday struggle in the nation between Israeli government and Palestinian government. The government has all the power in this country, not men. The only power men have is over women, which is why violence against women is so high in Palestine. Women must keep a strong voice in their national movement through writings, protests, political efforts, and women’s rights organizations.
