Children. They can take over the world. In the short story The Ransom of Red Chief, Johnny Dorset take.s over his kidnappers and makes them run away. They kidnapped him to get ransom. Their kidnappers feel regrets. In the short story, the man in the casket, Beth Cassavell deals with the grief of her grandfather dying. She has regret because she was always been rude to her grandfather. Both stories have to deal with regret. Kidnappers, they think their so smart. In reality, the kid can be the smart one. This is proved in the story, “The Ransom of Red Chief” by O. Henry. In the story the two main characters, Bill Driscoll and Sam Driscoll, kidnap Johnny Dorset in order to make a profit. See, people feel instant regret when they die. This is definitely shown in the short story, The man in the casket by Beth Cassavell. In this story, Beth loses her grandfather. At first she didn’t mind because he was always rude to her. Everytime she had to hang out with him, they had a huge fight. IN the story it states, “‘“The ra…ra…” “Rain.” “Don’t you tell me what rain is. You know, you can be so unpleasant and downright obnoxious sometimes?” my grandfather said. “You’re a spoiled brat.” Bluntness was always an annoying quality of his. “You never smile. You should try to be more like your cousin. Rebecca. She doesn’t have half as much as you have and she’s always smiling and laughing.”” He does the ultimate insult by comparing her to her “perfect” cousin.
