Have you ever wondered why some music is censored? If it doesn’t allow artists to do what they love, then why should it even exist? Although some people might think that music censorship shields children from bad things, I believe that music censorship is not the solution. I just think that is isn’t necessary. Finally, there are so many bad things that are caused by the censoring of music.
One reason for music censorship to not even exist is that it keeps people from the truth. According to “ConnectUS” (2015), if situations mentioned in songs are hidden from the audience, then people won’t be able to practice the life skill of coping with challenges in life. Also, some lyrics contain harsh realities. Instead of keeping them away from children, they should be “accepted and overcome,” (“8 Most Valid Pros and Cons of Music Censorship,” 2015). As you can see, hiding reality from children is not the solution.
Another reason to get rid of music censorship is because it stops artists from fully expressing themselves. Some artists use music to promote positive messages. With music censorship though, it can be hard since sometimes, their message won’t reach their audiences’ ears. That may be true, but there are other ways to prevent this from happening. After all, it is the responsibility of parents to make sure that their children are listening to appropriate music. If parents would do this, then music censorship wouldn’t be needed to shield young people. As you can see, music censorship isn’t necessary for the sake of children (“ Pros and Cons,” 2016) and (“Is Music Censorship a Good Thing?,”
