Drug legalization is an end to government-enforced prohibition of certain substances. It has sparked a great debate in the U.S. over the past couple of years. With two states, Colorado and Washington, already completely eliminating the illegalization of marijuana, should the rest of the country legalize the use of marijuana and other drugs too? There are many advantages and disadvantages of legalizing marijuana, but other drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, ecstasy, etc., should they be legalized? Are the health issues too much of a risk? The question is; which will outweigh each other? In my own opinion, I think the only drug that should be legalized is marijuana. Although only legalizing it to an extent with boundaries and restrictions. Many people in this world have disorders that can be treated with the use of medicinal marijuana. Would the people using it for recreational purposes overthrow the opportunity for future medicinal marijuana users? Above all, the profit from legalizing it would help solve other problems far more important than arresting drug abusers.
Drugs will always be there, and people will always use them. It is just a matter of reducing and benefiting from it by legalizing it. If drugs were legalized they should be consumed in a controlled environment, not anywhere else. With that being said you can't go out and sell it, give some to dealers, commit a crime while high, nor be a threat to the public. Then I thought, there will still be illegal drugs roaming around because the dealers need money; but they cannot grow or make a profit from their businesses, because if the consumers want to purchase some marijuana they would buy it where it is legal. ...motherapy, Crohn’s disease, insomnia, glaucoma, epilepsy, migraines, lack of appetite, and arthritis. The effects on these medical issues after consumption reduce the feeling of anxiety and pain. The cannabinoids found in marijuana are scientifically proven to slow the growth of cancer cells.
The good clearly outweigh the bad effects of legalizing marijuana. Other drugs? Definitely not. The health and social ills pose too great of a risk to society to legalize those kinds of drugs. But marijuana on the other hand helps people with health issues, produces tax revenue from states and takes drug money off of the streets. In my own opinion I believe marijuana should be the only dug legalized. It’s inevitable that the drug trade will always be a problem to the society and it’s the government’s responsibility to reduce it and actually make a profit from drug legalization.
