Should alcohol be prohibited in the Middle East?
Since the creation of the world, people have choices in domains. They choose their food, their lives mates, and the brand of their cars, the perfume they want to use-- in brief they are free to consume whatever they want. This freedom of choice makes the question of alcohol consumption. Most of the countries in the Middle East are Muslims, and they have Islamic governments except for a few countries. Also, alcohol consumption unregulated may be dangerous for people. An issue in the Middle East is whether alcohol should be prohibited or not. People’s freedom and religions around the world tend to clash with the danger of alcohol and the pros and cons of keeping alcohol illegal.
We cannot speak of alcohol without knowing what is it. A definition of alcohol “A colorless volatile flammable liquid, C2H5OH, synthesized or obtained by fermentation of sugars and starches and widely used, either pure or denatured, as a solvent and in drugs, cleaning solutions, explosives, and intoxicating beverages” (Free dictionary). The word “alcohol” may come from the Arabic word al-kohl. Alcohol is a chemical compound that makes a person when drinks it feel good and happy, but when that person drinks too much of it, he or she may lose his or her consciousness. So, when people drink too much of alcohol, they might not know what they are doing. In short, alcohol can affect the brain and therefore it can make people difficulty walking and difficulty speech. However, alcohol can benefit the body, such as lowering the risk of diabetes. So, countries in the Middle East spend money prohibiting alcohol, and they spend more money finding people who bring that illegally and sending them to the prison.
In conclusion, alcohol is a very large and controversial topic and people have different opinions about it. Countries in the Middle East try to make balance between what it is good for people and what it is not and what it is good for the country and what it is not. So, they try to take some decision by depending on people’s religions and freedoms, the danger that people might get, and increasing their economy as well. So, concerning prohibition of alcohol, they are trying to put these factors on their minds and make their decisions depend on many factors.
