Having to read Macbeth, a play made by the famous writer Shakespeare, made me have a glimpse of what Shakespeare was all about. It took me a while to fully understand this whole play. The reason being, that I didn’t start by reading the play but watching it. The video made the story seem dull, even lifeless. I didn’t get into the play until Banquo’s ghost comes and visits Macbeth. I found that part every interesting, it captivated my interest. After that scene I briefly went through all the other scenes. I was very much in astonished when I read that lady Macbeth was the criminal master mind in all this. Macbeth is the main character; he’s the general in the army of the King Duncan, originally Thane of Glamis.
He encounters three witches in the woods. The three witches tell Macbeth how he will become Thane of Cawdor and then King of Scotland. For Banquo, they prophesize that his children will the line of Scottish Kings, but he will never become king himself. Then they get go their way home, when reaching an encampment, they are presented with a messenger from king Duncan that announces that Macbeth has been made Thane of Cawdor, immediately putting the prophecy into perspective. Making Macbeth ponder on how he will become king. So he goes home and tells his wife. Lady Macbeth is overpowered by the idea; she gets obsessed and influences her husband to go through with murder. Their prophecies are responsible for Macbeth murdering Duncan, Banquo, and many more. They seem to cause people for example Macbeth to seek ambition and power, power they don't have but by committing serious crimes can be hold. The witches are a huge influence in this whole story, without their twisted optimism there wouldn't be the plot of the story. But they’re just one concept of the story, they didn't force anyone to do anything. This just makes the witches more awesome and persuasive. They were able to have the power to make Macbeth take the evil actions that he did. The witches just make the story more realistic because there are many people that believe the superstitions that people tell him. They change their lives and personalities because of what people that practice magic tell them. Which in my opinion is wrong, no one should have that kind of power over
