Women over the years have had specific roles in the media, jobs, and the household. Usually, women are portrayed as the housewife to the working husband, the thin, long-legged, “beautiful” model, or the scandalous assistant to the powerful man. The portrayal of women has seen significant changes in the household, media, and jobs. During the 19th and 20th centuries, women were supposed to stay at home to cook, clean, and take care of the children while their husband went to work. They were especially expected to have dinner ready, look nice, and devote all of their attention to the husband when he got home.
