The Pearson Prentice Hall Self-Assessment Library is a tool utilized to determine areas of strength and areas of opportunities for growth and enrichment. Several assessments were taken involving the topics of What About Me, Working With Others, and Life In Organizations; however, the focus of this paper is placed on areas that the results did not correlate with my expectations. Instead of focusing on results that were better than I expected, I concentrated on areas of opportunities that were cause for deliberate introspection. I also provided some insight as to how God has worked in my life to change a weakness into strength. Keywords: ambiguity, emotional intelligence, politics, work-life balance, stress Life as Me: How I Fit into the Society of Work Opportunity to determine more about myself was afforded by utilizing the Pearson Prentice Hall Self-Assessment Library. Three sections: What About Me, Working With Others, and Life In Organizations have several assessment tools that describes me as an individual, how I fit into society and an organization. As an ISTJ, I found that most of the perceptions about me were in line with what I already believed about myself, however, there were results in each part that surprised me. Step 1 Part 1: What About Me? In maintenance, rarely is there a day when ambiguity does not exist and being emotionally strong is not required due to the very nature of the job. Predictions of future breakdowns of equipment has come a long way, however, breakdowns do happen and usually occur at the worse time. This is exactly how I was during my marriage and subsequent relationships after the divorce. Although commitment to the organization and being in control of my department are strengths, they took away from my personal life because I was putting my job first above everything in my life including my walk with God. As maintenance manager, due to the very nature of the job and from an ISTJ perspective, this position acted as an enabler to put the strengths of commitment to work and the organization as the priority in my life. In Matthew 6:33 Christ said, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (NASB). As my priorities changed, He gave me another opportunity for personal happiness thru Him and my fiancée. He also gave me the courage, drive and determination to change my career.
