PDCA Cycle: The PDCA cycle, also known as Shewhart cycle or Deming cycle, is a management tool widely used by companies worldwide. This system was designed by Walter A. Shewhart in 1920, than modified and publicized by William E. Deming (colocar mais informação – encontrar data e citação). This method is usually used as a problem-solving technique, and just like the Kaizen philosophy, is mainly focused on continuous improvement, once it is effective in looking for better methods of solving current problems. It consists of four steps or phases, which are: Plan, Do, Act and Check. - Plan: First of all, it is essential to measure the existing system, understand how it is working and in cases of solving problems, identify possible roots of the problem and solutions for it. PDCA Cycle in the project: During this project, Benchmarking and Brainstorming are the methods used in the stage of planning, once these are useful ways to come up with a range of new and different ideas for solving the problem that many students have of finding rooms at the CIT campus. These ideas represent possible solutions for the issue and a manner of improving the current system – the signs that guide students at the campus. Furthermore, a survey was made, so that it was possible to measure the existing system and collect data about how this problem affects students. The root of the problem was identify as the lack of signalization in some specific parts of the blocks, especially in A and B blocks and in the link between two blocks. Therefore, improving the signs inside the buildings and ways that could make it easy for students to find their classrooms were the main goals expected to be met with this project.
