In the movie it starts off with Pony writing the story (coppola, The Outsiders). In the movie Darry pushes Pony when he gets mad (coppola, The Outsiders). It then shows that they go to the church but it seems like they only stay for a day or two (coppola, The Outsiders). When they are running away from what Johnny and Pony didn’t wash their hair in the river (coppola, The Outsiders). But when they get back they don’t get questioned by a judge (coppola, The Outsiders). It also bring up Cherry leaving but doesn’t talk about why she left (coppola, The Outsiders). Also when Pony goes to the hospital to see Johnny he doesn’t bump into his mom (coppola, The Outsiders). And when they decide to go home they don’t talk to a judge (coppola, The Outsiders). That is a list of things that makes the movie different from the book.
During both the movie and the book you could catch similarities that they both included. Johnny is super shy and Johnny parents are mean to him. Some more similarities are Soda is good looking, Cherry ends up leaving, Two Bit is a rebel, Cherry likes Dallis, Cherry dated Bob, and Johnny died in the end and all of these things happened in both. So seeing all of those similarities there are a lot more similarities than differences between the book and the movie. The plot of the story is just so good that the people
The Outsiders was a great book, and the movie was a great way to wrap everything up. There were some similarities, but a lot more differences. When I watched the movie, I could see how the characters in the movie didn't exactly match how they were portrayed in the book. My imagination was on a different track than what I saw in the movie. In my next paragraph I will explain the character differences in the book and the movie.
While watching the movie, I could see that the main characters in the book, both their names and traits, were the same in both the movie and book. However, aside from that there were many different as...
The Outsiders and The Wednesday Wars deal with misunderstandings among young people in the 1960’s and show how people can form friendships despite their differences. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about two rival gangs, the Greasers and Socs. Ponyboy Curtis and some Greasers befriend Cherry Valance, a Soc. She spies on the Socs and helps out the Greasers. Ponyboy and his friend, Johnny Cade, become involved with the killing of a Soc, so they run away to an abandoned church. When the church catches on fire, Ponyboy, Johnny, and their friend Dallas Winston, save a few children who were trapped in the burning building. Johnny gets injured during the process and later dies. The boys are mentioned in the newspaper as heroes. The
Which is better: book or movie? The age-old debate. But which is better? S.E Hinton's, 'The Outsiders' book is far superior to Francis F. Coppola's motion-picture film portrayal of the book in 1983. You might remember it from the popular quote, "Stay Gold". Today it is mostly read in middle school classrooms. The Outsiders was published by S.E Hinton in 1967 when she was a teenager. The main focus throughout the story is the feud between two gangs: The Socials (Socs) and the Greasers. "We're poorer than the Socs and the middle class. I reckon we're wilder too". The whole book is written in Ponyboy Curtis's point of view. So, we are hearing the story through a Greaser's perspective. It is often difficult to make a connection with a character over the big screen. You miss out on scenes that did not make it into the movie, some that were are not emphasized like they should have been, and some characters were portrayed wrongly.
One of the biggest similarities was that the movie followed very close to the book’s script. Sometimes it was so close that the dialogue in the book was repeated word for word by the movie characters. The sentence “Things are rough all over” was a quote said by Cherry Valance and was important in both the book and movie. Another quote that was monumental was “Nothing gold can stay” written by Robert Frost and said by Pony when he and Johnny were at the church. This poem explained that nothing good can last. Johnny told Ponyboy to “Stay gold” before he died. (Coppola, The Outsiders). Both the movie and book are saying that if one stays innocent, then their life will be a lot safer and easier. An example of this is that if Johnny hadn’t killed the Soc, he wouldn’t have had to run away. This way, they wouldn’t have started the fire in the church and Johnny would still be
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
The movie, The Outsiders, starts with the Curtis parents on their weekly, Saturday evening drive to the baking store to buy some ingredients for their boys’ favorite Sunday morning, breakfast treat: chocolate cake. The Curtis boys love their chocolate cake for Sunday breakfast not only because they love it, but also because they appreciate how hard their parents have to work to save the monies necessary for the morsels that put smiles on their faces!
There are few similarities between the book and the movie. Usually most movies are similar to
The movie and the story had some of the same characters but some weren't exactly the same. The movie introduced many different characters and changed some of the others. For example, the movie had the plant lady and had the mentor of Anderton as the founders of Precrime while in the book, Anderton was the only founder of Precrime. Also, Witwer wasn't blond he had black hair and Kapler wasn't named Kapler he was named Crow. In the story they had the red head Fleming who did not exist
Usually movies try to take the story to a different level or by adding parts or just try to change it to a completely different story. Some of the differences between the movie as to the book are some little and large differences. They might also try taking little parts away that will change how the readers see the story characters. An example of that would be Walter not smoking in the movie (Pg 115). Walter usually smokes because he is stressed or just as a way to relax. Walter also does not get punched by Mam...
I strongly think that the book “The Outsiders” written by S.C. Hinton, is better than the movie. When you start the movie there is no explanation to what is going on or who anyone is. In the movie if you didn't read the book you wouldn't know that there is the big conflict between the greasers or Socs. I think the book explains and introduces each character very well. In the movie they left out huge details on the story background and important parts in the movie, like when Randy tells Ponyboy about how Bob acts naughty and gets into trouble because nobody will tell him no. The book gives more detail and I feel like the book is more interesting than the movie because when you go watch the movie you don't know really what's going on. My understanding
A movie that is dramatic yet thought provoking, humorous but dark… The Outsiders is a timeless classic that has pulled on viewers’ heartstrings for decades and made them question whether the society that they live in is lawful and just. Set in a small town which is divided by two rivaling groups, the Socials and the Greasers, Ponyboy Curtis (C. Thomas Howell) will narrate his story which will surely leave you heartbroken. This movie features world renowned actors such as Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, and Patrick Swayze who act phenomenally and are authentic to the roles of the characters in the novel. If you are seeking an enticing, comical, and tragic movie, the Outsiders is worth watching and will surely satisfy your needs.
In the book The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton there are many connections, both the novel and poem have a lot alike. The book the outsiders has to deal with kids that live in a poor area and dont have as much worth as socs also known as upper class. There is poverty and wealth in many communities and you see it everyhwere even in the book and poem. The poem is representing how richer people try to rule lower class and think they are better. Since the poem states ¨The labour sighed, to the god´s will that I have another mouth to fill¨. When the poem is saying this it means that there is another child that the labour which is a slave or servant is going to have to look over another child and work hard but still be treated like dirt.
Second there is more detail in the book than the movie. Well, I think that more detail is better because the more you know the better you understand the movie or
I read the book The Outsiders and watched the movie the West Side Story, they had many similarities but they also had their differences. I enjoyed both the book and the movie they were very well written. I will tell compare and contrast the book and the movie.
