The Other Wess Moore's 'The Other Wes Moore'

The book the Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore is a story that talks about two people with the same name, and who lives in the same city. But unfortunately the circumstances where they lived were rough; both Wes Moore went through separate paths which their lives changed as they grew up. They both ended up doing badly at the beginning of their lives, but while the author Wes mother didn’t want him to waist his life to the trash, so she decided to send him to military school where his life changed towards a good ending. In the other hand, the other Wes Moore, when he started doing bad his mom didn’t do anything about it no one was there to help him guide his future life to a better ending , so he continued on going through bad steps and ended up

His grandparents were strict on him which gave him the opportunity to have a better future in his life without making bad decision into worse. In the other hand, the other Wes Moore didn’t have the opportunity to have strict parents that gave him a limit and didn’t get him in trouble. The Other Wes lived in a bad community that affected him with no support from either her mother or no one. He lives where there are lots of bad influence lots of drug dealing and gangsters. Since Wes Moore moved with his mom to the Bronx he realized there were rules that had to be done because his grandparents figured that they worked with her children’s and figured it would work with their grandchildren as well. Wes took a serious surprised when he moved to the Bronx, “I had thought my mother’s rules were strict but soon realized that my grandparents’ were many times worse.” (Moore 42). This shows how Wes mom and grandparents cared about him and would look out for him so he can stay out of trouble. But Wes would have liked it if they wouldn’t have been strict because he would have liked if he had more liberty. His Parents and grandparents were just doing what is their responsibility to take care of what they love the most. The Other Wes Moore didn’t have parents that were strict and grandparents either, if maybe they were have been strict his life would have change a lot with different. He would have been in better

Having a better mindset could have changed his whole life around like the author Wes Moore. Carol S. Dweck states, “Other students believe that intelligence is something through effort and education. They don’t necessarily believe that everyone has the same abilities or that anyone can be as smart as Einstein, but they so believe that everyone has the can improve their abilities”(1). I believe if the other Wes Moore or even the author Wes Moore knew about how they could manage their mindsets they both could have done good and not had to been going through rough paths because both of them didn’t know how to behave and stay out of trouble at the beginning of the book Wes Moore states how both Wes Moore where dong bad and causing problems that disappointed their loved ones. Maybe if they were a little interested in changing their lives they would have tried better to try to change the mindsets they had, with that being said having a growth mindset, which is a type of person that is willing to learn stuff because they want to and not because they have to.
