While most people would probably say something along the lines of a national scandal, natural disaster, or other national news as the most important event of their life time, mine would have to be moving 3 times. Moving really changes your perspective on things, especially after several times.The first time was the easiest. I was born in Louisville, Kentucky and I lived there for 6 years. It was the easiest move since I was so young and didn’t really understand what was going on. I moved to Carmel, Indiana from Louisville. It wasn’t a far move. I was only moving 2 1/2 hours away. This move was by far the hardest move I have had to go through. I was established and comfortable in Carmel. I didn’t understand why this was happening and I was really upset and angry, especially with my parents. I didn’t understand why we had to leave. It was especially difficult leaving my friends, because I had grown up with them. One of my friends, Elaine, I had been friends with since I first moved to Indiana. We lived right by each other and were practically inseparable. This time I was moving about 8 hours away. After only living in Georgia for 4 years we moved 12 hours away to Erie, Pennsylvania. At this point I was accustomed to moving so many times. I didn’t think much of it. I wasn’t necessarily sad about moving, other than leaving my friends. I was actually pretty complacent about it. I didn’t think I would have such a hard time leaving my friends this time. Leaving wasn’t the hard part, but once we got here in Erie it really hit me. I realized that I wouldn’t get that “perfect” senior year, play on the tennis team with my teammates, or get involved at my school. I loved being a Hoya, which was my schools mascot.
