D reams are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep. Dream interpretation is the process of assigning meaning to dreams. In many ancient societies, such as those of Egypt and Greece, dreaming was considered a supernatural communication or a means of divine intervention, whose message could be unravelled by people with certain powers. In Islam all forms of divination are considered to be unlawful (haram) as it is said that the future only belongs to Allah, though on the other hand dream interpretation only is considered acceptable and at times beneficial, and this we know from the prophetic examples of Muhammad. If we talk specifically for Islam, the night dream is thought to offer a way to metaphysical and divinatory knowledge, to Though ‘Dreams in Islam’ is a subject whose supreme importance for the believer continues to increase as the world becomes increasingly godless and as the historical process draws to a close. The Prophet sallalahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “When the time (of the end of the world) draws close, the dreams of a believer will hardly fail to come true, and a dream of a believer is one of the forty-six parts of prophethood.”- (Bukhari) This clearly shows that the authenticity of a dream is related to the fact of how good a believer is. These “good and true” dreams are a divine gift to our hearts, and such dreams can only come when your heart is pure, sound, healthy, innocent, and penetrated with faith in Allah Most High. The Qur’an informs us that Allah Most High punishes the disbelievers by sealing their ‘hearts’, and their ‘hearing’, and by placing veils before their ‘eyes’. (Qur’an, al-Baqara, 2:7).
