The people of Earth should be more grateful than angry because they have been saved by Superman, a heroic icon. The destruction did not happen in everyone’s backyard. The destruction only happened only in two locations which was Metropolis and Smallville, Kansas. The people of Earth should celebrate superman because he was the only being who was able to defeat General Zod. The destruction of businesses, areas, and towns happened only in certain places. The chaos could have been more devastating if superman was not able to beat General Zod, which would have resulted in planet earth being blown up and the extinction of the human race. In the movie The Man of Steel, the destruction happened in certain places, like Kansas and Metropolis. In Kansas where Superman grew up on a farm with his earth parents Johnathan and Martha Kent sustained damaged to alien ships and government equipment, for example the drone. Superman discovered his foreign origin throughout the movie The Man of Steel. He was from a place Called Krypton that was destroyed because the people were stealing energy from the planets core which made it unstable. He knew he had to save planet earth from the same fate as his home planet and it needed to be done in order to save the human race and his family which now was all of America and earth. How close does Man of Steel fly towards the Superman legacy, and are its changes for the better or for the worse? Many fundamentalist fanatics have mixed feelings amongst Man of Steel, and are critiquing director, Zack Snyder, due to the vast range in which the concept of the movie is from the origins of Superman. Some fanatics question if the Snyder fully understands the origins of Superman due to the far fetch theory of the film opposed to the comics. The disappointment has left mixed feelings amongst the audience. Some express that the twists were a nice addition to the films; while others feel as if the story should stay the same. The film goes off on a complete tangent from the origins of Superman. Zack Snyder has made voluminous inaccuracies due to the fact that Superman does not get his full potential powers until three-fourths of the way through the film, he has lack of concern for the citizens, and most importantly he executes General Zod.

Superman, also known as Kal El, has shown many different powers since his first debut in 1938. This paper will discuss various topics about four of his major powers and explain why they are all impossible for anyone to achieve in real life. Superman’s four major powers that will be discussed in this paper are X-ray vision, being able to fly, super strength, and invulnerability.
In the story Kingdom Come, the superheroes of old such as Superman, Green Lantern, and the Flash are living in a type of self imposed exile after a disastrous nuclear accident in Kansas state. When Superman and the other heroes come back to stop the new breed of heroes, meta-humans, who are doing more harm than good, the threat of the end of the Earth looms overhead. The climax of the graphic novel comes when the Gulag, the prison built to house the non-cooperating meta-humans, has been destroyed. As the old superheroes clash with the escaped meta-humans, Superman battles Captain Marvel who has been brainwashed by Lex Luthor and has turned against his former allies and friends.
During the fight that takes place in Small Ville Superman gets shot in the chest. This blast does not kill him, and he shows no sign of pain. This depiction of masculinity promotes the popular belief that superheroes are indestructible and instills in young children that even when experiencing agonizing pain heroes suck it up and keep fighting.
There are various stories on the history of Superman causing one to believe that he was mischievous insurrectionist. Superman was born on Earth and founded by earthlings, Jonathan and Martha Kent in his starship that crashed in Smallville, Kansas. In another story, Superman was also found in the middle of nowhere, but was sent to an orphanage soon after. The original Superman is quoted to be “half Huckleberry Finn and half Robin Hood” (Tye 31). He had the technique to be straightforward and purpose as pure as gold. However in another comic rewrite, Superman is said to have been “a spineless, unbearable coward!” (Tye 31) by a woman that he is trying to pursue. Superman’s personality and character changes multiple times through the years making the reader think one thing, but if analyzing another comic make them think otherwise. It is believed that his purpose in crime fighting is not the same as most other superheroes tend to be. While Superman does have a personal trauma, he “cannot ritualistically redress this past by fighting criminals in hand-to-hand combat, as Batman and Spider-Man do” (Yockey 26). Immanuel Kant’s accounts is most plausible in this case. The choices Superman makes are always done out of perfect duty. The concept of categorical imperative, follows along with the majority of the actions Superman takes. Superman’s decision making is done out of good will which is a “good in itself.” Some might say that Aristotle’s accounts is most plausible in this case. Everything about Aristotle’s ethical theories points to Superman performs virtuous acts which leads to a life of happiness. Lex’s actions not only harms others, but also harms his chances of cultivating a virtuous character. The drawback of Aristotle’s theory in Superman’s case is Superman’s longevity. Aristotle’s theory, makes it so that one can only obtain happiness at the end of their lives; there is no telling what the future holds, Superman might not always take the correct actions. In the case of Mill’s theory, one can see that neither of Superman’s identities seek out higher pleasures; one only sees him live his life day by day; either stopping the bad guys or writing articles about bad guys. Superman finally kills the creature but in the process end up dying himself. This is the sacrifice Superman makes for his people: he loses his life and his true love Lois. But it was all worth it in his eyes because he was protector of his nation. Superman had many things going for him, his invincibility against the humans, his strength, and most of all his love for Lois Lane. Superman could have easily fled and would have never been seen or herd from again. But to him America was worth his sacrifice of everything he has, including his life. Any true American is expected to sacrifice his life for his country.

By far, Superman’s most impressive ability is to fly; the man can jump in the air and soar to save the world. He would shout, “Up, up, and away!” (Superman), as he flew to rescue someone in need of help.
