Emotions of War

War effects everyone differently, creating a different emotion among us all. In each of the poems that we read, the tone is different as the writer wants us to understand the emotion behind it and what they were truly feeling. Some people took war as it was no big deal, as other sat and suffered through the horrendous events and emotions. Even though each poem was about war, they all have their own story.

In the first poem, "The Man He Killed" the writer represents all of the men who had to experience war without choice and without understanding its underling social, economic, or ideological causes of the war. The setting of this poem takes place in a pub, as he reflects on the war and the experiences he was forced to encounter.
This helped realize why the emotion was so strong in this poem. The men of the was are physically and mentally exhausted as the war has lead them to be nothing else. This begins in the third stanza as the emotion of the poem completely changed. The writer starts to hear danger and sees nothing but a future full of grief. He is frightened and believes that nothing is left. This is the same emotion that was present in the first two poems. They start out having hope, even if it is barely any and then changes as reality hits them. They are sad, scared and worried of what is going to happen next in the world.

The fourth poem differs slightly from the other three poems but does not differ much. The other three poems expressed emotion that were full of grief and exhaustion as "Patterns" is more emotion of rage. The writer is furious about what is going on with war and especially at the fact that war took her loved one away from her. She tries to hold it all in because she knows that there is nothing that anyone can do. All of the writers express that there is nothing anyone can do. War is going to happen and calls for the people help. The ends of the poem are what different from one
