Though there are many mysteries in North America to tell at campfires or when outside to insight fear, Bigfoot has always been one of the most well known. This mysterious beast is a representation of our culture and displays how the things we believe to be real, could just be a figment of our imagination. Ultimately, there have been thousands of “witness report encounters” with the mystery creature known as Bigfoot. This Yeti-like creature has aroused many questions that date back to the early seventeenth century. Over all these years, people have been searching for Bigfoot and camping out to be one of the first to have very hard evidence of him. Because it is very difficult to tell if Bigfoot is real, people have questioned his existence …show more content…
It is also told that stories and sightings of Bigfoot began in the Pacific Northwest, but very few are aware that sightings of this animal are not limited to this area but occur throughout areas such as the United States and Canada (Newton, “Bigfoot). It is very hard to find “hard” evidence, but to date, the only physical evidence we have of Bigfoot's existence consists of casts of large footprints, some photographs that some researchers perceive as “photoshopped” or fake, and some hair, blood, etc. True evidence is often hard to find because the prints could easily be faked by pranksters, but some footprints have been spotted and used as factual evidence. There are standing rewards that could be close to $100,000 for Bigfoot prints. I am positive that many people have seen the pictures of a furry, tall ape-like creature but refuse to believe that it is Bigfoot because there are so many fake pictures of him. In reference to evidence, “In February 1978, Pennsylvania's York Daily Record announced that hair recovered from a car that supposedly struck a Bigfoot "came from a primate" but did not compare with …show more content…
Hundreds of sightings in Northern America and Canada date back to the nineteen hundreds, though most sightings have happened in the Pacific Northwest. The first swamp ape witness was by David Thompson who was attempting to cross the Rocky Mountains on his trip he wrote in his Journal-- "I saw the track of a large Animal - has 4 large Toes abt 3 or 4 Inch long & a small nail at the end of each. The Bal of his foot sank abt 3 In deeper than his Toes - the hinder part of his foot did not mark well. The whole is about 14 In long by 8 In wide & very much resembles a large Bear's Track. It was in the Rivulet in about 6 In snow. (Bryce).” Though that might have been the first account, there have been other people who claim they had an encounter with the Sasquatch himself. For example, Frontiersman Daniel Boone claimed to have killed a large ape in Kentucky probably during the American Revolution. There was a sudden interest throughout the nation in the search of Bigfoot during the 1960’s and 1970’s, which sparked the production of Sasquatch Among Us. Many people became so interested that they did journals and even newspapers revolving around the beast. Peter Byrne, a famous researcher of Bigfoot, went on many travels to try and find Yeti and Bigfoot; he never found either, though he did have a gut feeling that Bigfoot was in quite

On July 26, 1996 two individuals were walking along the bank of the Columbia River near Kennewick, Washington, did not expect to find one of the oldest complete skeletal remains in the world. While, Kennewick man has gained considerable notoriety, debates have grown over the application of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and whether the Native Americans or Archaeologists have the rights to the body. As soon as the body was found it was studied by anthropologist James Chatters and he discovered “that the skull had characteristics unlike those of modern Native Americans” (Native Americans and Archeologists). As a result, it did not qualify under the NAGPRA rules. However, conflict arose because the Department of Interior and many Native American tribes are contesting that evidence found by the archaeologists. But, while it goes against Native American beliefs to inspect the bodies of their ancestors, any evidence that was gathered during the trial, in regards to the origin of Kennewick man, was necessary in order to find out to whom he belongs. Now, the skeleton is currently being kept at the Burke Museum in Washington State, where it is not on display. I believe that is where he should stay until more information about him is found. Finally, in regards to the presentations, I will be taking about who cares about the Kennewick Man, Lise Anderson and Jen Gray will be tackling the topic of opinions, Matt Ruffcorn will do the basic information about the Kennewick Man, Austin Eibel will talk about the conflict affected and finally, Matt Hellinghouse will talk about the research from an archaeological perspective.
The experience happens in the middle of the night in Orick, California when the encounter of Bigfoot took place, in the house of two men and their children. The house was surrounded by the forest, woods, and there were not many people around.
Question at Issue: Is Bigfoot simply a legend, or is it just an elusive freak of nature?
There was a period of time, before the appearance of Europeans on the continent, that the Nephilim did not have this “rule” or “compulsion” to keep their existence hidden from humans. The Bigfoot were known to the Native Americans by many names. Legends and lore sprang up from the Native American’s interaction with the Bigfoot. The Native Americans always considered them to be a “society” or “tribe.” The relationship the Bigfoot tribes had with the Native Americans was precarious at best. Many Native American tribes described the Bigfoot as cannibals, mountain devils, kidnappers, rapist, and thieves.
Bigfoot also known popularly as the Sasquatch, Momo, Skunk Ape, the list goes on and on, is without a doubt, the most famous of all hairy man-like creatures. The following will make you a believer in this overseen creature, it made me one. Bigfoot is seen in every possible location throughout the North American Continent, mountains, swamps, forests, crossing desolate and some not so desolate roadways and on open farmland. While its demeanor varies from docile to curios to almost threatening, its general appearance varies. Bigfoot is a massive animal, its average height is seven and a half feet tall, its weight is said be between 400-500 pounds. It is covered almost completely in fur, and its fur ranges in color from the moist widespread dark red-brown to brown, black, red, gray and even white. It leaves its footprints behind as a calling card, almost taunting the researchers that reverently research this undiscovered animal. While its prints resemble mans, they are characteristically large in comparison, and instead of the weight distribution being concentrated under the heel and ball as in the arched human foot, the weight distribution is more evenly distributed over the flat, yielding Bigfoot foot. Most often the prints have five toes, occasionally however the tracks are apparently three toed. The three toed tracks can be theorized several ways; that there is a unique variety of Bigfoot in existence, while resembling the five toed Bigfoot closely, it retains a few distinguishing characteristics; another theory is that some soil conditions can cause the toes of Bigfoot to 'clump' together. The proportion of three toed tracks in comparison to the five toed tracks seems to indicate that three toes is the exception to the norm, and that it is the result of some environmental peculiarity. The main physical characteristics attributed to Bigfoot, other than size and foot shape, are that it is bipedal and upright, has wide shoulders and a heavy brow ridge. Its eyes are sometimes said to appear to be red in color, but are mainly reported as yellow. Although no discernible language has ever been placed with Bigfoot creatures, they are very vocal. Witnesses have reported high pitched wails and low, growling roars, either before and/or after visually spotting a Sasquatch. On some occasions the sounds have been heard from two or more locations at the same time, apparently in communication with one another.
Bigfoot’s existence can no longer be denied. No longer is it a question of Bigfoot being real, but rather a question of man’s capability in being able to believe the truth. The facts cannot be mistaken. Besides being seen time and time again, video footage has been collected. This alone is enough to make many believe, but for the rest, the physical evidence is unmistakably real. As the theory progresses, more and more credible researchers come forward to show support in such a creature’s existence. They do this at the risk of losing their own credibility. None, however, are capable of an explanation for Bigfoot’s uncanny ability to remain hidden from human observation, the nature of which remains to be a question. Perhaps, though, as more and more people start to believe in the truth, questions will be answered and the mystery solved.
All around the world monsters are spotted contently everyday. Many of the monsters live in extraordinary circumstances. These monsters range from the chupacabra to the ancient megalodon. One of these monsters being bigfoot. Bigfoot is a very well know monster that has been in myths and stories for hundreds of years and sightings have started almost 200 years ago. One of the things many people wanted to know is how closely related bigfoot is to humans and how closely it is to apes.
The Legend of the Chupacabra has been around for many years now and is almost becoming more and more believable. There have been plenty of sightings and detailed descriptions of what this beast looks like. Many say it stands at about three feet tall with big red eyes and has shriveled hairless skin (“National Geographic Society”). Even though there are multiple facts and sightings that could potentially prove that this creature is real, some still do not believe it. There are scientists and researchers that go out everyday to try and find out more about this creature, with all this effort being put into this, it is very hard to believe that it is not real.
The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act established Indian nations as the owners of Native American cultural objects, including human remains, which were found on Federal land. It requires that the American Indians provide substantial amounts of information to validate their claims. However, only federally recognized tribes are recognized under this act, so if you are an unrecognized tribe good luck claiming anything that belongs to you. After this, the existing anthropological literature will be consulted. In some instances, Indians will disagree with the literature and take steps to correct it. Indians are also likely to provide additional information that had not yet been documented. The interpretations will be written from the perspective of the claiming tribe, how they view the world, and their perception of significance of objects in religious ceremonial rites. While some might raise the question of scientific objectivity, no one will deny that this perspective had often been lacking in the literature. These interpretations are bound to bring about new insights which will challenge earlier assumptions (5).
Weather Bigfoot is just another branch of primates or an early form of humanity which failed to evolve; it is the duty of science to seek truth no matter how controversial the findings may be. Works Cited “Abominable Snowman.” Microsoft Encyclopedia. 2009. CD ROM.

From countless sightings, records, myths, footprints, and research, there is a strong possibility Bigfoot is real. We can say he is real because of his full history in different ethnic backgrounds, thousands of sightings, and physical evidence left. Scientific evidence and skeptical observations could also show that there is a strong possibility Bigfoot is unreal. Skeptics say there is no fossil evidence, lack of breeding population, and reasons to hoax. There are so many strong indications the giant ape could just be a bear, or it could be a creature scientists have not yet fully discovered to prove it is real. Evidence of Bigfoot’s existence and nonexistence is equal. Both evidence and theories can help you decide on this creature’s presence.
To explain the unexplained the Kiowas had myths, and Momaday tells these myths of their journeys in a historical voice. One of their myths explained how they came into this world and why their numbers are so small: “the Kiowas came one by one into the world through a hollow log. They were many more than now, but not all of them got out. There was a woman whose body was swollen up with child, and she got stuck in the log. After that, no one could get through, and that is why the Kiowas are a small tribe in number”(16). The few of them that managed to come out of the log saw so many things that it made them glad to which they decided to call themselves Kwuda, and later Tepda, both of which mean “coming out”(17). The Kiowa saw an amazing new world as they came out of the hollow log; Another of the unexplained that they explain through the myths is the story of how the big dipper came to be, “Eight children were there at play, seven sisters and their brother. Suddenly the boy was struck dumb; he trembled and began to run upon his hands and feet. His fingers became claws, and his body was covered with fur. Directly there was a bear where the boy had been . . .The seven sisters were borne into the sky, and they became the stars of the Big Dipper”(8). This story shows how they explain the unknown of nature through stories. With this story Momaday uses a great deal of
