Kao Kalia Yang’s The Latehomecomer is a story of one Hmong family’s first hand experience on their trip from the mountains of Laos to a new life in America. It depicts the hardships they faced in their quest to freedom in many instances, showing the reader the realities the Hmong faced during and after the Vietnam War.
