Lamborghini, one of the world’s leading brands of luxury vehicles since 1963, makes yet another masterpiece to celebrate the legacy of its founder. The founder Mr. Ferruccio Lamborghini was born in 1916, and in commemoration of Mr. Lamborghini’s legacy of 100 years, the extremely rare Lamborghini Centenario was created in 2016. Being one of the most coveted Lamborghinis made to this day, only 20 Centenario coupes and 20 Centenario roadsters were created in the whole world. It compares to its predecessor, the Lamborghini Veneno, which was a vehicle to simply show off Lamborghini’s power and innovation. Both the Lamborghini Centenarios (Coupe/Roadster) come packing the v12 engine that is based on an Aventador’s engine but very much tweaked. The engine puts out around 760HP and nearly 500 foot-pounds of torque power. The engine allows this fully carbon fiber car, which weighs around 3,400 Lbs. to go from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, which is faster than you can say “Happy 100th Birthday, Ferruccio Lamborghini!”(Glon) The only difference between the models is the price tag. For the people who are unfamiliar with vehicles, a coupe is a 2-door hardtop car, and a roadster is a 2-door roof-less car. This means the price is higher for essentially less car, but the reason for the price increase is due to it being more delicate. This portion/price difference is what makes these cars so rare, such as the Roadster Veneno and Centenario. Another reason why these models are rare is that the Roadster models are one of the only cars from Lamborghini that don’t provide a roof. Just seeing one in person is an experience. But, for the lucky few that have gotten a chance to drive the beautiful masterpiece, they have plenty to say about this hypercar. Top Gear writer Charlie Turner, who got an exclusive invitation to the Nardo test facility, says in his own words, “Nardo is where the VW group comes when it wants to develop something antisocially, intergalactically fast.”(Turner) which is where the Centenario belongs. As previously mentioned, the Centenario has an upgraded Lamborghini Aventador engine, which meant VW let Mr. Turner drive and work his way up to the Centenario to add some hypercar context. Turner explains that the driving was compared to a “confidence ladder”. As you move through the day you begin to get more confidence and get to experience more advanced technology which makes the driving experience smoother due to the fact that you begin with the more “bare” Aventador which doesn’t come equipped with the technology that comes in the other two
