The James-Lang theory began from two scholars called William James and Carl Lange . Despite the fact that they added to this hypothesis freely from one another, it is fascinating that they thought of the same thought around the same time (1884-1887). This hypothesis says that feeling is not specifically brought about by the impression of an occasion yet rather by the substantial reaction created by the occasion. This implies that, with a specific end goal to experience feeling, we should first experience the real reaction (e.g., quick breathing, dashing heart, sweat-soaked hands) that relates to the feeling. When we encounter the substantial reaction we encounter the feeling. Through sensation, we get to be familiar with some given truth. This can, however require not, prompt information about that certainty, accomplished by seeing its relations to other given certainties. Both sensation and observation include a quick instinct of some given articles. Creative energy, less quick, recovers mental duplicates of past sensations and observations, notwithstanding when their outside jolts are no more present. Conviction is the sense or feeling that thoughts or recommendations framed in the creative energy relate to reality. Each recommendation can be investigated regarding its question and whether that protest is accepted. The object of a suggestion involves a subject, (for example, my steed), a predicate (wings), and a connection between them (my steed has grown wings). This paper will examine Robert C. Solomon's Emotions and Choices article, to best identify what anger is, and to what extent a rational human being is responsible for their anger. Firstly, Solomon's argument must be described. A quick summation of Solomon's argument can be found in the following four points: Emotions are judgements, emotions are chosen, emotions serve a purpose, and emotions are rational.1 To quote Solomon, he explains that “Emotions are not occurrences, and do not happen to us. They ... may be chosen like an action.”2
Chapter 4 discusses the several states of consciousness: the nature of consciousness, sleep and dreams, psychoactive drugs, hypnosis, and meditation. Consciousness is a crucial part of human experience, it represents that private inner mind where we think, feel, plan, wish, pray, omagine, and quietly relive experiences. William James described the mind as a stream of consciousness, a continuous flow of changing sensations, images thoughts, and feelings. Consciousness has two major parts: awareness and arousal. Awareness includes the awareness of the self and thoughts about one's experiences. Arousal is the physiological state of being engaged with the environment. Cognitive theory posits that the way people feel, act, or react to any given situation is not so much the situation itself more than it is “…how they construe a situation” (Beck, 2011, p. 30). The Situation/event is the first level of the cognitive model. The second level of the cognitive model is Automatic thoughts. Automatic thoughts are the thoughts and pictures that are created by emotions and perceptions of a situation “…and are not the result of deliberation or reasoning” (Beck, 2011. p. 31). They are typically accepted as factual and true regardless of evidence to the contrary. These automatic thoughts are usually responsible for one’s emotional, behavioral, and/or physiological Reaction which is the third level of the cognitive model. Five people may listen to the same lecture but experience completely different reactions ranging from excited or anxious to disappointed or disgusted.

To conclude this essay, I like to emphazise that Rosenthal's HOT is more of an empirical hypothesis, rather than an analysis of the term ‘consciousness.’ His aim is precisely to explain the phenomena of consciousness in relation to other mental states, such as thought and perception, and while achieving this, he has elaborated a theoretical structure for comprehending the functions of our mind.

The theory our learning team is studying is the psychodynamic approach or what is sometimes called psychoanalytic approach. The main contributors to Psychodynamic approaches was the founder Sigmund Freud (1859-1939), Anna Freud (1895-1982) gave significant contribution to the psychodynamics of adolescence and Erik Erickson (1902-1994) called the “new” Freud but with an emphasis on ego (conscious) forces, termed as psychosocial theory (Craig & Dunn, p 11-13). In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, David Hume states, “there is not, in any single, particular instance of cause and effect, any thing which can suggest the idea of power or necessary connexion” (Hume, 1993: 41). Hume establishes in section II that all ideas originate from impressions that employ the senses (11). Therefore, in order for there to be an idea of power or “necessary connexion,” there must be impressions of this connection present in single instances of cause and effect; if there are no such impressions, then there cannot be an idea of “necessary connexion” (52). To illustrate his statement, Hume examines four situations: bodies interacting in the world, mind causing actions of the body, mind causing ideas of ideas, and God as the source of power. I will highlight Hume’s reasons and outline his arguments to establish that there is no “connexion” between cause and effect on the basis of single instances.
Based on Professor Simone Glynn’s lectures consciousness is where impressions, dreams, memories, values and fantasies exist. Physically, It is the results of a chemical simulation of the brain; when physical things are structured in a certain way, it creates or gives rise to consciousness; emergent property.

Impressions are given sensations that arise from "unknown causes". Remember that what we know are our impressions, according to this trend. Whether there is something that corresponds to these impressions is unknown, for we don't know real being, we know impressions (a la Descartes).
From the moment they wake up, people experience events that trigger certain emotions. How people react to these events may depend on that person feels during that event. In terms of whether our emotions control us or we control our emotions, I believe that to some extent emotions control us. Because we cannot change how we feel in response to certain stimulus, emotions control us. However, people have some control over whether or not they act on their emotions. Emotions at that given moment can influence our actions. If people can control their reactions, then to some degree we are controlling our emotions. However, the prompts raises several important questions. How can one’s emotions alter other ways of knowing such as perception or reason?
