What is an animal tested product? Is it a medicine? Or is it a cosmetic? Some people might think animal tested products as complicated stuffs. In fact, animal tested products are easily found around our lives. As animal testing is available in many uses, it has a long history and has been controversial for many years. Those who insist on abolition of experiments for animals argue that alternatives for animal testing exist. In addition, the protesters think that human’s anatomy and that of an animal are very different. Therefore, they argue that applying test results from animal testing is meaningless. Also they say that animal testing must be abolished because of ethical issues. Those who are against animal testing cite it as a cruel and immoral practice. They believe animal testing is not different from animal abuse. However there are reasons why humankind cannot stop testing animals. Animal testing is inevitable for three reasons: provision of essential data, contribution to humanity and guarantee of animal rights. To begin with, animal testing deducts vital data that cannot be drawn from human testing.Scientific developments related to human ethics are accomplishedby animal testing.Ethics of human are so important that science has a limitation line drawn by them. For instance, cloning is banned due to human ethics. Therefore, scientists conducted cloning experiments on animals. In 1996, Ian Wilmut succeeded in cloning sheep, known as Dolly by using somatic cell. After in 2005, based on Wilmut’s success, Woo-suk Hwang brought the first cloned dog Snuppy into the world. Data of cloning animals are so important because some animals, like dogs, have similar gene structure to human. It is true that alternatives for animal testing exist. However, alternatives are not practicable for financial reasons and because they are not realistic. Also animal testing gives human a great deal of data which cannot be found in non-animal testing. Therefore animal testing is unalterable and has to be conducted. Since human being cannot live without animal testing, there must be regulations to protect animal’s right. Humans have to make sure that experiments on animals are not conducted for unethical purposes by legislating laws. Animal testing must be practiced for both humanand animal’s benefits. Due to the inevitability of animal testing, mankind must practice it in unavoidable situations, and must not abuse animals by testing animals in the boundary of law.
