Why solar powered lamps are needed in third world countries and why lighting of the solar powered lamp is essential as a basic necessity to life? FROM observation we have come to know, that more than 1.5 billion people around the world have little or no access to light due to shortage or unavailability of electricity. Large numbers of affected people are from rural areas, and to a certain extent people from urban areas are also getting griped into energy crises. Statistics from United Nations says, that an investment of about US$35 billion to 40 billion per year is required to provide electrical energy to accomplish consumer basic need of energy for light, cook and mobility. Even after such heavy investment 16% of the world’s population will still not have electricity by the year 2030 (International Energy Agency). Sources For The Generation of Electricity Thermal power, wind, Hydel and solar energy are the main sources for generating electricity. With the passage of time, the consumption of electricity has increased proportionately with the increase in the world’s population. Due to decline in global economic situations, that includes inflation, unemployment, corruption and other contributing factors have made electricity expensive and unaffordable for the consumers of third world countries. The production cost and the supply cost have increased, and as a result many electricity generation projects stand pending. With the passage of time, conservation of energy has become a core issue for the world. Countries having natural resources are putting their efforts, not to use what they have. They want to utilize these resources to full fill their own requirements. This Optimistic and pessimistic approach has created scarcity or ... ... middle of paper ... ...et installed. Governments are encouraging the manufacturing of “Solar Powered Lamps”, helping in promoting the product by allowing duty free imports of the manufacturing components. Manufacturing of Lamps has helped in increasing the employment by outsourcing the assembly of products. The industry has great potential to create market all around the world.
