Culture encompasses the physical and social values that form a way of life and the concepts with which these are communicated and expressed. Culture includes the norms of society and the morals practiced, as well as rituals and traditions that act as a guide to govern human behaviour. Unfortunately for some, these morals are often lost and consumed by an immorality that resides within the soul of many human beings. In turn, the result is the destruction of the very things that are held dear to one’s heart, and devaluation of the significance of life. Humans are the most intellectually and culturally advanced organisms on this planet, yet one major aspect that distinguishes this species from all others is the remarkable capacity for inhumanity.
Rape, a tool of violence committed against individuals of all ages in society and at times of war, is an act that victims suffer from for the course of life. A question arises of which age group is left most susceptible to these offenses; however, it is recognized that age is undeniably no means of protection from rape. Statistically, victims of rape are dispersed through various age groups, 15% being under the age of 12, 29% are aged 12-17, 44% are under 18, and 80% are aged under 30 (Get The Facts, 2014). ...e in an endeavour to terrorize enemy civilian populations (Barstow, 2014). It is unfortunate that the bulk of the victims are women and children, individuals who have no reason to be terrorized in such a cruel manner. Two of the worst cases of the sexual enslavement of women were in territories seized by Japanese armed forces in addition to the mass rape committed by advancing Russian combatants against German women (Barstow, 2014). Clearly rape is an issue of great concern when it is taken into consideration the frequency of such wrongdoings along with the application of rape as an armament of war. Through countless acts of rape and sexual violence, it is evidenced that no one from any age group is safe from these criminalities. However, individuals frequently display acts of violence and cruelty not only to other humans, but to innocent animals and pets as well.
