Some people have been fighting for freedom and equal rights throughout most of their lives. Those people have tried their best to prove their point and get what they should have. For example Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most known persons who started and helped with the movement. His speech was one of the main things that helped countries fight for what they want. The struggle for freedom is still relevant to most nations because half of the people in this world still haven’t gotten their equal rights and freedom. In 1963 , Martin Luther King Jr. said his “ I have a dream” speech at the lincoln memorial. His speech opened up people's minds and eyes to what has been happening. There was a lady and her two nieces who were apart of fighting for equal rights and freedom as well. Her nieces and her were crossing the river about to go home but decided to change their mind and turn the boat around to where they were before. They decided to turn back around because they saw all the things that were happening just to get freedom and equal rights. Revolution was started by the citizens and they were working together during the riots. In the article Cairo: My city it states, “ We stood our ground and sang and chanted and placed our lives, with all trust and confidence, in each others hands.” This is important because even though people wouldn’t get listened to or couldn’t do something they kept fighting to achieve what they wanted. Also, they would get curfews set by the government, turn off the internet, cellphones, media or any other kind of uses to communicate and couldn't sing the national anthem, yet they would still sing the anthem. They figured out that fighting for what they believe should happen was more important to them than any other laws that were being made. Those societies don’t see the point of it because they have their freedom and equal rights , they have never been in the shoes of those who are fighting for what they want. They have no idea of how it is to not have equal rights and freedom. There is also some other people who don’t think those other nations deserve what they have. They believe their better than those who don’t have what they have and their not worth enough to get what they have. On the other side some people from that nation also believe the others should get their freedom and be equal like everyone else. Others have seen the point to everyone getting treated the same.
