People think hunting is barbaric and inhumane, but it helps keep the environment strong, keeps the animal populations at a healthy level, and is good for the people who hunt them. Hunting is practiced all over the world and has been for thousands of years. People oppose hunting simply because they see it as black-hearted or immoral. They do not see the rich qualities that come with hunting. If only they open their eyes to the wonderful qualities hunting provides, then they could see the good hunting does in this world. Hunting keeps the environment strong and healthy. Hunting keeps crops and native plants from being over eaten or wiped out all together. Hunting is a major source of food for some families. Without food gained through hunting, they would not have enough food to provide. Hunters also donate to certain organizations who provide families with the meat. In the article published by Ronald Fowler, It states, “Total harvested deer which were donated increased from 348 in 2015, to 397 in 2016. These numbers included 256 antlerless deer in 2016, compared with 204 antlerless deer in 2015”(Fowler). That is hundreds of pounds of meat donated to families. They will never have to tell their kids they don’t have any food to eat. Hunting also stimulates the economy. People use hunting all over the world as a way to pay the bills. Fur trapping is still very popular. In an article written by David Smith, He states, “There are around 70,000 trappers running lines in Canada and more than 200,000 in the U.S..”(Smith). The furs are sold in actions and the money goes to trappers. There are other jobs than trapping. There are hunting guides and even large companies who sell hunting supplies. All this goes to providing jobs for people who love the outdoors. Hunting is also very cultural and a need for some people. Believe it or not, not everyone live close to a grocery store. There are people who live in the most rural areas of the world. They have to hunt to survive. In the article Survival, It says, “Some tribes identify themselves as hunters of specific species. The Khanty of Siberia are reindeer hunters.They use reindeer skins for clothing and shelter, meat for food and bones for knife handles. Their connection to the reindeer is vitally important to them as a people.”(Survival). Without hunting these people would die.
