One important theme in An Invisible Thread is friendship. Laura shows that she is a good friend because she is thoughtful to her friend Maurice. First, Laura shows her thoughtfulness through buying Maurice a locker with a combination lock. She was mindful of his living situation, whenever she gave him a tooth brush or a bar soap it would quickly disappear. He could never figure out who took them but it would vanish immediately. Therefore, Laura bought him a combination lock so he could keep his stuff secure and safe. Laura recalls, “I bought Maurice a large footlocker with a combination lock, and he kept his stuff in there.”(Schroff and Tresniowski 48). I believe this is significant because she is showing her friendship by bring solutions
A friend is someone you can share dreams with and will give you assistance when you need it. That's what you call a true friendship. In the novel of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, he wrote a lot about the friendship of George and Lennie’s. George and Lennie, who come most proximate to achieving this ideal of brotherhood. The author shows the relationship of George and Lennie. George takes care of Lennie who has a childlike mind. George is constantly giving Lennie instructions, for instance like not to talk when they went to the ranch, and George said not to say anything when they go to the ranch and also telling him not to touch dead animals. George and Lennie are a good example of friendship because George took care of Lennie when his Aunt Clara died, George protects Lennie from people that try to hurt him,and George kills Lennie.

That’s what the characters in Of Mice and Men experienced. Loneliness. This book demonstrates what they viewed a friendship as. Most of them don’t even know what it’s like to have a friend. In this book Lennie, George, and Carlson deserve the most sympathy because each one of them has gone through some tough phases from being treated like crap to not having anyone who understands them and who sympathizes why the things they've been through reflect who they are as a person.
