Q. ‘Requiring students to write traditional academic essays limits students’ creativity and provides little useful preparation for the workplace.’ Discuss this statement critically (1500).
This essay will discuss the relevance of academic essay writing. The essay will explore whether academic writing provides a basis for preparation in the workplace in which students intend to enter after their studies. The essay will also discuss whether essay writing limits students’ critical and creative ability or expands upon it.

Many workplaces have essential requirements such as good communicational and written skills both which are developed throughout students education right up to and including degree level. Essay writing provides a basic format that can be applied to other written tasks also, which benefits students later in their workplaces at some point in their career; therefore making traditional essay writing an asset to the educational system.
