Researchers Hoppe, Vieira and Barcellos (2013) point out that there is a gap between attitudes and behavior, meaning that consumers are positive about organic food, but usually do not buy it. Their findings showed an alignment between positive attitude and consumption behavior. Individual attitudes towards buying organic food are primarily based on beliefs about benefits (healthy, at first place, as well as environment friendly and natural), while beliefs about visual or risks are much less influential (such as less attractive and not been really organic).

Mohamad, Rusdi and Hashim (2013) indicated that the consumers of organic food in the urban areas tend to be older, and have a greater income. Also, their study establishes that a majority of the consumers are working professionals and they may want to consume organic foods as a means to help reduce their stress levels and maintain an energetic lifestyle.

Kulikovski and Agolli (2010) discovered that organic food is generally looked upon as a substitute to conventional food for consumers who are concerned about food safety and quality. There is a need to differentiate consumer markets, based on the consumer’s personal involvement with the attributes of the product, and not simply the attributes in themselves. Also, that organic food has an emotional dimension that increases in strength as the consumption frequency rises, increasing the number of associations formed and the level of abstraction reached by consumers. This clearly suggests that credence characteristics become part of consumers’ cognitive processes and have an impact on their decision-making
